One day I watched that commercial on repeat from that vhs like a dozen times to prep for the little league championship game
I love that the two of them never spoke about this ever again too. It just became one of those things that got replayed on clip shows and YouTubes forever.
Holy shit, totally forgot about this one until a clip popped up on Instagram. This was very much my shit, now I realize it was very much a show to sell a bunch of toys.
Some of the most vivid memories from my childhood are my grandma taking me to JCPenney in the mall in the mid 90's. This is bringing back childhood flashbacks heavy for me.
The realization of how long it has been since I have heard the sound of a credit card getting rang up.
Malls in the 90s were the shit. I mean probably not as good as the 80s with the arcade explosion but still
I mean I remember mall arcades were a thing until at least the mid 2000's. My mall had one when I was a teen. Probably wasn't as full and as a big deal in the 80's but still.
Funnily enough, the mall near me got rid of their small arcade like over a decade ago, but a few years ago they ended up building a massive Round One in the mall, which is a bowling alley/arcade/bar. But I guess it’s more like a Dave & Busters-ish arcade than a legit one
Yeah I have noticed the trend at least in the States the last decade or so is to reinvent malls as a date night/birthday/special occasion hub. or just move to like a place people need to go to do errands. Not just a place where teens go to hang out and people window shop anymore. Like my mall now has a movie theatre inside the mall. The nicer casual dine in spots like PF Changs, Red Robin, Cheesecake Factory, an upscale diner, ect. There is a tattoo shop now. there is an urgent care clinic. A couple bank branches. My mall now has a Whole Foods where the Sears used to be which I think is weird.
our local mall is also missing its Sears which has led to a lot of the big brand stores leaving, so everyone calls it trashy now because it’s all small businesses in the one side. The owner is actively shopping the space so hopefully we get something there because I don’t want the mall to die. An entertainment spot like that would be pretty cool. But we also don’t really have a BJs/Costco type place in the area so something like that would be cool too, even if I find it kind of a weird addition to a mall.
yeah unfortunately all the big retailers you would think of who could maybe take the spot have places very close by in other shopping centers, ie target, dicks, Lowe’s, etc. Some people have said they want a Walmart but god I hope not
Curious is.there a real difference between Macy's, JCPenney, and Dillards? Dillards is more like work/church clothes right?
