The glamour kills ep with all the covers is still incredible. That wrightsville beach cover by TSSF was amazing
From what I recall, this forum dogged on death chorus HARD when it came out. I remember trying to convince people the record was good. (Which it was and is) PCB was always under appreciated when they should have been having their moment.
You’re not wrong! I remember when the singles came out there was a ton of snark about there being no screaming as an attempt at a mainstream grab. Then closer to the release date rumors started that Jimmy’s voice couldn’t handle it anymore. It was kinda weird but the band was very hush hush about it. I think they finally confirmed it in an interview after the album release, Jimmy talked how upset he was during recording and Will Yip having to calm him down to figure out how to sing differently. After there was a little bit of “Oh that sucks” from fans but no real re-evaluation of the album. It just kinda got lost, killing the band. Damn shame.
Honestly the problem is CBGP was such an amazing record that when Death Chorus came out and there was the voice change, it was a hard adjustment. I still listen to CBGP regularly and maybe put on DC once a year. It has definitely grown on me but it's it the same level
Death Chorus rocks, songwriting is as good as ever on that one. Just a different vibe. The chorus of "For Show" gets stuck in my head all the time
Death Chorus is easily my most listened to PBC record and I love their whole discog. That thing is all killer, all the way.
Maybe because it was my introduction to the band but this remains my favorite song. The music video always makes me smile, something about the aesthetic instantly takes me back to 2010. A discography run is in order, it’s been too long.
Living Saints was also my intro to the band. One of my all time favorite songs and a soundtrack to college.
Burned Out In A Jar was the first song I heard by them. I remember it being a stormy summer night and I played it on repeat after adding it to my iPod. It fit the mood of the night perfectly.
First time I heard of them is when I saw them open for Broadway Calls in 2008. Head no idea who they were, but their live show was so energetic and totally sold me. Went home and downloaded STJD and was immediately hooked.
Jimmy was very kind when I met him at Warped. Chatted for a little bit, he signed a tank that I bought and proceeded to not wear in order to avoid weathering the signature lol.
In high school, I found Jimmy's personal Facebook page and messaged him to ask what play is referenced in the lyrics. I have no memory of what the play was, but I do remember he was really nice about it even though I was probably really weird.
