Started a new game in Fire Red last night and I stopped after I finished Lavender Town last night. Only members on my team I know that I'm keeping are Wartortle and Kadabra. I caught a Growlithe before getting to Celadon and it's been leveling up pretty quickly, so I might keep that after it learns all of its good fire attacks. I also have a Gloom that's been pretty good for me but I don't know if I'm going to use it going forward because its moveset is kind of weak. Mankey, Graveler & Diglett are my others and I usually swap them out depending on the situation. I also just caught a Haunter that I want to work into my party but I don't know if I'll use it enough. I'm also using an emulator so I can't evolve it into Gengar.

 

So I've been trying to follow along this thread but am a little confused since I've been out of the game for a while.

The last version I played was Black on the DS. I've been thinking of picking up a 3DS and a newer version. Is there a newer version that crosses all generations? Or is everyone just transferring across a bunch of versions?

 

Every single Pokemon is attainable, though not catchable between XY/ORAS. You may have to trade for a good amount of things, but you can obtain everything.

 

Right. I know they're useable in all games. But I couldn't tell if they were catchable throughout the new ones. If I were to buy a newer generation game, what would everyone recommend?

 

You can get X/Y or Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, any of those would be great. You can catch Pokemon from all six generations in any of the newer games I think.

 

This is my team in Alpha Sapphire after defeating all of the gyms:

I'm currently doing some training to get the Sableye into the 40s. Any tips on what I should do/train before heading off to face the Elite Four? This is my first time playing through ORAS.

Swellow - 47

 

Having so much fun with Pokemon Y so far. About 10 hours in.

I haven't really truly played a pokemon since the originals. I just purchased Y and love it. It has a good amount of originals mixed in with alot of new Pokemon. I'd personally say go with X/Y.

 

I just got the Steam Siege trainer box and the Generations trainer box in the mall! Woo. Looking forward to building some cool decks.

 

i got a steam siege booster box last week, pulled a full art pokemon ranger which i really wanted, was hoping for a secret rare gardevoir but got volcanion instead (though volcanion is a better card).

So the only two designs from gen 7 so far that I really hate are both fish... Seriously, what on earth is that blue thing.

 

Most fish Pokemon are garbage.

 

True. But that thing and Bruxish are particularly bad.

 

The blue fish is made up of smaller fish, that's a pretty cool design choice, especially if the animation has them breaking off at times

 

I think they fish is an awesome design.

 

What typing is marowak? From the little image it looks like ghost which would be cool

The first images from CoroCoro have leaked and have revealed the latest news on Sun & Moon. As always, do note that translations are preliminary while we work on them. The little sandcastle is called Sunabaa while the big one is called Shirodesuna. Both are Ghost/Ground-type. Pre-evolved Bewear is called Nuikoguma and remains Normal/Fighting-type. and the fish is Yowashi is Water-type and appears to have the ability to change its appearance from its Single Form into a larger fish, its School Form. It also confirms Alolan Meowth & Marowak. Alolan Meowth is Dark-type while Alolan Marowak is Fire/Ghost-type.
We also see the first bits of the antagonist team, Team Skull. Its boss is called Guzma and the girl is Plumeri
