managed to get the last card I needed for this set off a wonder pick but thanks to everyone in the last few days has been sending me cards.

 

considering VCG has never had it, and the players have learned to play around it.. so sleep happens but doesn't really swing battles like you might expect.

 

I haven't downloaded Champions yet, but I probably will. I'm excited about the expedited team building.

 

i still can't wrap my head around why i would play this when showdown exists

 

Yeah, Champions will definitely be more geared toward VGC, tournaments, etc. I'm curious if they'll add more formats in the future like Showdown has. But yeah, this isn't going to replace Showdown for a lot of people.

 

My six year old has enjoyed playing this on my wife's phone and helped me finish the dex for Mega Shine this morning. Not sure what that says about me as a parent, but it's a weird and satisfying feeling.

It's definitely not unless they add 6v6 singles and more customization to rulesets

 

It makes sense why they wanted to make this though. In last few years, sign ups for VGC tournaments has just continued to increase. They are trying to make it accessible to even more people while also monetizing it

 

I more worry about the legal case of them using this as incentive to shut down Showdown but yeah it was never gonna be a 1:1 and smogon rulesets and Showdown will always have their place

 

I really wouldn't understand why they would shut it down now if they haven't before. I tuned into a couple streams last night and someone mentioned that they have kept showdown as a "beta" for the potential legal reasoning though.
