I feel like if this was a switch 1 game during the beginning of the lockdown like AC was, this would probably be the biggest game of all time with how wide the net of audience is, the number of Switch owners, Minecraft fans, Pokemon fans, AC fans, etc.

 

Hear that, Nintendo? You done fucked up, big time.

 

Hahaha I'm not saying it isn't already a hit and that they've made a bad financial decision. Just would be fucking huge if all the stars aligned properly, etc.

 

I still think this is gonna be huge. It's a system mover. It's, so far, one of the best cozy games I've ever played. The dopamine hit from Scyther telling you you're their best friend? Nothing like it.

 

Yeahh, just anecdotally, my sister and her boyfriend are the biggest AC, Pokemon and Switch fans I know and they still won't convert despite really wanting Pokopia haha. They don't think it's worth dropping $520 to play just one game when they still love the original Switch and are struggling to pay for groceries.

They aren't interested in the other exclusives like Mario Kart, DK, and Metroid, and have an Xbox and PC for better performing versions of third party games. Can't say I blame them in this economy.

So, I do think it will convert people for sure. But there will still be plenty of hold outs until more banger exclusives drop.

I’m not done with the first area yet but I decided to advance sense I have some mons preoccupied with building until midnight.

I recently swapped my switch lite for an OLED thinking at least some marquee games like Pokémon would release on regular switch for a time (I’m a very casual Nintendo gamer so I don’t really know Nintendo news/history much so idk if that was a reasonable assumption or not) but it’s a bummer to see super fun looking ones like this remain far away lol

 

I got the switch 2..just a matter of dropping the funds which I should be an adult and not do right now… but Pokemon

 

I don't know if any company really operates this way. Typically once a new console comes out, maybe there will be one or two stragglers for the previous console because of development time, but most games will be for the new platform they're trying to sell.

Case in point, Metroid Prime 4 was mostly in development for the original Switch, so it makes sense for it to come out on both platforms, but I fully expect most if not all first-party games from here on out to be on Switch 2 only.

 

I’ve long been an Xbox gamer so I thought it was standard practice to do so and that Nintendo was the exception. Maybe I’m just Mandela effect’ing myself. but don’t Sony (I’m assuming) and Microsoft support lots of old gen with games for 1-2 years into the new gen? Maybe just sports games (which I play the most of). Feel like my understanding of the world is upside down lol

 

Well, firstly, make sure you're not confusing first and third-party titles. Third-party games tend to trickle out for prior generations to maximize profits, especially sports titles since they're largely iterative. EA putting the new Madden on the last generation isn't the same as Sony putting out the new Naughty Dog game.

As for first party, looking at the PS5 launch for example, it's true Sackboy and Miles Morales came out for PS4, but Demon's Souls and later Returnal did not. They were PS5 only. That's because of the development transition, as I said. There is always a short period of crossover, but it's temporary and limited.

 

It's also worth noting that Microsoft, for a long time, has been absolute dogshit at preserving their fanbase and doing things to make their consoles worth the buy-in, so I can't really blame anyone in that ecosystem for being confused.

 

I 'finished' to lands so far, the first one, and the cave/volcano land. Having a blast. Is there any way to bring Pokemon from one area to another?

 

Anyone else build their first three houses for the OG starters? I sure as fuck did

 

I've got my first gen starters living in a home together.

 

I wish I was more patient and made my first land look awesome, but I'm just grinding finding Pokemon and making habitats wherever I can.

 

I got this home going for my water Pokemon over the water in the first area. I plan to build a second floor as well and hopefully can get water up there as well eventually. There will be natural balconies and everything built straight into the cliff.

Ideally a waterfall will come down from the 2nd floor in between the 2 doors you see in the picture. The vision is really coming together.

 

My plan is to power through the areas then do beautification after
