I mostly liked Sun and Moon

The things I didn't like matched things I don't like about most modern Pokemon games

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were overly redundant and not good as a result

I don't like that they took the "trials and not gyms" thing and never really expanded on it because it was a good idea that had promise to expand and be better

 

The only things I enjoyed from Sun and Moon were the z-moves and some of the poke designs. I didn't like the trials substituting the gyms at all. It also began the current trend of no HMs. I enjoyed HMs.

 

I liked the trials substituting in theory and not in practice so I wish they improved on it in the future (or even in USUM just to make it more different). I hated HMs so I was very grateful to not have em taking up space haha but I get the idea. I wasn't a fan of z-moves personally but they weren't bad, better than dynamax at least.

 

Some of the z-moves had great animations. Competitively I can imagine they were a nightmare, but I enjoyed how they looked.

 

I dislike most of these gimmicks that have annoyingly long animations honestly

 

Wasn't sure if this was posted, but shiny sounds are back.

 

I got all excited about this until I saw this comment.

 

Sun and Moon have some of my all-time favorite designs, but I didn't enjoy the actual games a ton.

 

Yeahhh, it's the same way to get the original color Magerana. You need a full living dex.

 

Gyms >>>>

 

So I've been going through Emerald for the first time on my retro handheld and oh man, we were patient kids. I can't imagine playing these now without the ability to fast forward.

 

I just beat the champion in Brilliant Diamond. I didn’t get these at first because of the backlash but honestly they are perfectly fine remakes. The graphics aren’t pretty, but once you get used to it they also aren’t off putting. I you like the originals or old school Pokemon and want to play them on Switch there’s really no reason not to get these.

I’ve only been playing Pokemon since the middle of the summer because I’m not doing so great and it’s really been helping my keep my spirit up somewhat.

 

I prefer shining Pearl to Legends Arceus when it comes to Gen 4 switch games.

 

I really like them all now, can’t even pick, though I will say I now really prefer not having random encounters

 

Just finished up Emerald and now onto Gen 4 as the last Gen I haven't beaten yet. Should I play Platinum or the Switch remakes?

 

Platinum for authenticity

 

That's the option I was leaning towards because I can use fast forward for that lol

 

Been replaying the games myself. I played Leaf Green last year then stopped for a while, but recently started Soul Silver and I just beat Clair. Looking forward to getting through Alpha Sapphire, which I’ve never played, and the later generations. Barely spent any time with gens 4 and 5 back in the day and haven’t played any of the others since

 

I hope we get a modern Gen 2 game at some point. Whether it be Legends or Lets Go

 

If we get a Johto Legends game I feel like it'd have to have Ecruteak as the hub or it just wouldn't work with the lore of the game. If it's anything but that I don't want it and would rather have Let's Go

 

5 is so so good imo
