All Pokémon games are gonna be like that, they finally just let you do gyms in whatever order so maybe by 2028 they’ll try level-scaling them lmao
just beat brilliant diamond, first Pokémon game I’ve beaten since probably heart gold? yeah that sounds right. never beat the original not even sure if I played it, so this being a faithful remake with little more than a new coat of paint is fine by me. it was just a little too easy until the elite four then it got weirdly difficult in annoying ways like everyone and their mother having earthquake in the elite four and somehow every Pokémon in my party besides honchkrow was weak to it, tons of stuff like that but I had plenty of max potions and full restores that at one point I just had to wait til the bronzor ran out of PP on its earthquake and heal through it with my empoleon until I had an opening to hit it with surf lol. Also Cynthia was way easier than the rest of the elite four, didn’t lose a single Pokémon to her on my second try and my first try I only lost because I showed up with two Pokémon down and no revives left. Nevertheless overall I had a blast playing this game and the 28 hours play time it took me felt like a breeze. Given that I have a switch lite it was a purely handheld experience and reminded me of the days I would take my gameboy everywhere I went so I could play gen 1 and 2, it really reignited my interest in this series outside of Pokémon go and I can’t wait for the new ones. I also have more in the backlog of Pokémon games to play for the first time, including shield which I’ve started and moon which I’ve had for years but never touched. same with x/y and black/white as well but I did play ruby and sapphire but never omega ruby which I also own. Anyway yeah 8/10 for brilliant diamond, great game only held back by the same flaws of the original.
As someone who never played the original gen 4 games, I also would give BDSP a pretty high ranking. My play through was enjoyable and Sinnoh is quite a fascinating region with plenty to do. The underground and legendary Pokémon gave me plenty to do post-game and I racked up more than 100 hours.
I've only played the first two gyms of Emerald, so things might change, but so far Brilliant Diamond was a much better game imo
I still have to finish BDSP. I’m right before the elite four so I should probably just beat it before Friday. But I never really “finished” Legends either
Sun/Moon US/UM are my least favorite Pokémon games. So. Many. Cutscenes. If the cutscenes weren’t there they would be great games.
I really disliked Shield the first time I played through it and agree with it being too hand-holdy. That said, I've sunk about 18 hours into it in the last few weeks and I'm enjoying it WAY more on my second play-through.
need to go get a pre order tomorrow lol ive put it off but my brother said best buy should have plenty
I just remembered the Mareep line is in this game, so fuck off a regional Tauros, your services are no longer required.
