Finally started Legends Arceus. I’m still a bit unsure how the Pokédex works. I know that each Pokémon needs to reach a score of 10, but how exactly does the game calculate it?
If you go to your Pokédex it will tell you things you can do get points towards that Pokemon. Usually it’s just like “Catch ____ number of species” or “defeat ____ number of species” but there will also be some more obscure tasks like seeing a Pokemon use a certain move a certain number of times, or evolving it, or other random shit.
Some tasks on the page are marked with red arrows, and completing new stages of those tasks those will earn 2x points towards the research level. Even after you've fulfill a new requirement, the research level doesn't update until you present your findings to the professor. 2x highlighted tasks + 1x other tasks = total research level. Yes I can, it would be bad and make everyone mad because NFTs are dumb bullshit. Thanks for making me imagine it!
I was just listening to the pkmncast talk about shinies in legends and it made me think lol hopefully it doesn’t ever happen
I only have about 10 Pokemon left to catch in Arceus but they're all super annoying to catch. Not sure if it's worth the time.
*you have to complete the main story in Legends Arceus as well* Also a mystery gift for the item to get Darkrai will also be available on April 1st
I personally think it's better than the previous "need to go into store to get (item) to unlock event" - I was never able to do this as a kid because the stores on my tiny little island weren't eligible for it, for whatever reason, and like hell was I travelling over to the UK just to be able to unlock stuff, leaving my options being buying a gameshark or just straight up hacking my games. With the owning and beating other games requirement, I actually have access to these events in an organic way, which for me and my own context, is much better. But at the end of the day, regardless of my previous points, gatekeeping content behind owning other products is just pretty shitty practice in general.
