Do people know you can craft in the wild? That probably will help with having more space

 

It took me the longest time to realize there was item storage at the camps. I kept going back to my house

 

Wait hang on Porygon exists in the timeline of this game? Like, way before computer technology?

 

They only appear in space-time distortions so it works technically lol.

 

Yeah, resetting the outbreaks for shinies is really annoying. It’s probably easier to just do as many outbreaks as you can, unless there’s a mon you want a lot.

 

Yep, I'm crafting to the point where as soon as I pick up a new material I use it.

 

I literally only craft balls and revives. I haven't used a single item to help with catching.

Just got bravery and feel like it's pretty terrible for travel.

 

This turned into a long post but I wanted to give you enough info to be useful. If you go back and forth enough, the outbreak will slowly change/disappear/reappear. I've only ever got them for Pokemon I've seen, so I'm assuming that's the case, but I'm not 100% on that part.

As for resetting once you have the Pokemon you want, it took me a while to figure out because a lot of the early info posted online was actually wrong. As far as I can tell, the fastest way to do it reliably is:
1. Save at the base camp
2. Check the outbreak for shinies
3. If none of the 4 initial Pokemon in the outbreak are shiny, go back to Jubilife
4. Check the map. If your outbreak is still there, reenter the area and go back to step 1. If not:
5. Reload your save, immediately leave the camp and return to Jubilife, and keep reloading that save until you get the outbreak back on your map.

The game seems to generate the 4 Pokemon for the outbreak using a predetermined seed when you load back into Jubilife, not when you load into the camp. The only thing that isn't set in advance is whether or not the outbreak will disappear when you return to Jubilife, so you can reset the game indefinitely to continue the outbreak. You just need to save every time you load into the camp, because otherwise you'll get the same series of Pokemon next time you reload your old save.

All in all, the one time I've done it I got the outbreak I wanted in about an hour, and then I spent 2.5 hours going though the steps above until I got my shiny. YMMV for actual timing obviously, but hope that helps!

Yeah it's not something I plan to do regularly. I just wanted a shiny Shinx for the rest of my playthrough

 

I’ve got Ghost Typhlosion, Espeon, Goomy, and just got a Piplup. I want to get Mammoswine whenever I get to the ice level, but no idea who to pick for my sixth guy.

I got fucked late game because everything on my team was weak to fighting and psychic lol

 

Got a shiny Magikarp on my first swarm.

 

That last one is available in PLA? Surprising

 

Its a "post game" task. You find it in the snow area after you beat Palkia and Dialga.

Just got an OG Sneasel from time distortion.

 

Is a swarm different than an outbreak?

 

Did you like run through and beat the whole game before doing a bunch of the other stuff?

 

I wish I knew you get a guaranteed shiny from the first outbreak, I would’ve waited. It’s a sad male combee. So sadge.

 

I just didn't remember what they were called. I think swarm was in Sun/Moon

My dex was at around 185 when I hit the credits. Still a ton to do.
