Picked up Diamond (was so leaning heavily to Pearl, but I wanted the legendary beasts more in the end) and am psyched to play. I missed out entirely on all games from Ruby/Sapphire through Black/White 2 (except Soul Silver), so I’m excited for a more traditional Pokémon experience again.
You have to go into the Great Marsh in Pastoria to get it. Talk to the guy with the green hair after you first walk out into the marsh.
It's based on the pokemon's affection level, which was introduced in gen 6 (it's how eevee evolves into sylveon). Prior to BDSP afffection was boosted through mini-games (pokemon amie, camp, etc). Now regular play increases it. It's been there for a while, it is just more forced in these games.
yeah except for where they decided not to be faithful, like expanding the Grand Underground, Ramanas Park, turning HMs into an app on the Poketch, etc. lol
Azurill seems to the only Pokémon that always flees in the Great Marsh. Imma bout to just breed Marill.
Unless I missed a crucial piece of dialogue, it's pretty bad game design that I just had to Google how to escape being stuck in the mud in a Pokemon Safari marsh in Diamond
It’s silly that it’s called a trade room considering you can only be there with one other person lol in the trailers they had a bunch of people and even in the picture but every time I’ve went into them, like to trade for exclusives on austin johns thing, only one other person can show up at a time smh
Yeah, they announced it would only be one person on release but they're going to patch in group compatibility Soon™. not sure why they didn't just launch with it but I presume there were issues or something
It reminds me of swsh where the y comm was brutal at first but a few months in got a lot better, the difference is mainline games have more long term playability because of competitive so I hope they update that pretty soon
Oh wait... I can get onto it with my bike. But I definitely never used a bike to get on it in the first place? Weird
That and the tall grass were some of the worst parts of the original game, I refer to it as the castform level lol I was really hoping they would make it easier
Lol were there a bunch of castforms in the tall grass? I kept running into Ponytas every few steps so I just used repel
No but when you do the weather thing for the castform in the original game there’s a bunch of tall grass, mud, planks, quicksand, it’s just really annoying moving around. There was always a ton of tropius lol
Did they speed up the gameplay at all? Gen 4 (and especially 5) were always such a slog to get through.
Never played it on DS, but yeah it feels pretty slow. I keep impatiently mashing A trying to get all of the unnecessary text off my screen. My Luxray always has something to say at the beginning of every move and it's driving me nuts
Everything is quicker compared to the original but because they didn’t change anything, some levels are still pretty annoying. It’s like they wanted to keep the frustrating stuff on purpose lol I’m not sure why they couldn’t smooth out the tiles so you could simply slide around rocks and stuff, there’s times I bump into a rough corner and have to battle a trainer or Pokémon because of it, just silly.
