For flying Pokémon that are above you I think the best strategy is to follow them around and or circle them. Maybe someone figured out something better but that worked for me. Still can't get woobat or noibat to come down tho, ugh.

 

for raids, do you have to have a link code with your friends that also have the game to play with them? I noticed there's a link code to invite people when you start it.

Link Trade is so weak the code is only 4 digits so I kept getting paired with other people instead of the actual person i wanted to trade with
