Black and White are amazing in my opinion. X/Y are good too. The Gen 2 and 3 remakes are super good. So basically almost all of them.
Gen 6 is my favorite of those 3. I love the world building in X and Y, and Gen 6 introduced some of my favorite 'mons. That being said, it's by far the easiest Gen to beat. I say go with Black or White from Gen 5. It's totally full of unique Gen 5 Pokemon and will give you the most unique playthrough.
Yeah if I was going to choose out of those I’d go with B/W. NOT b/w 2, which are good, but less unique because you’ll be familiar with a lot of the Pokémon already (was heavy on a lot of gen 1-3 mons).
Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 6 Gen 4 is the last set of games that had any difficulty to it as far as i remember. not hard games by most standards but you cant sleepwalk through like everything since Gen 5 is an attempt at recapturing the early magic, as only Pokemon originating in Gen 5 are obtainable until the postgame when the national dex unlocks Gen 6 is fine and i think it gets too much hate but aesthetically it's not very far off from what Sun and Moon became later. definitely the most inessential
that's all based on the originalvmainline entries each gen, not the "sequels" and remakes and spinoffs
For me it's a tie between gen 3 and 5. Both had a fun and interesting world to explore, and the majority of my favorite pokemon.
Gen 3 is really good. My rankings are probably: Gen 5 Gen 6 Gen 3 Gen 2 Gen 1 Gen 4 Gen 7 Gen 3 and 2 could probably switch at any time. I know Gen 6 isn’t most people’s favorites, but I just really like the aesthetics of the Kalos region.
i wonder if we’re getting a Diamond/Pearl remake after this i think that’s the only one i didnt finish. totally down for that but also just scraping the bottom of the barrel rn need this game to release
Tomorrow at midnight I’m going to Walmart and buying this. I requested Friday off because my buddy is coming to town for a little bit, but I plan on just playing this most of the day.
So uh yeah I've been playing this for the past few days and I'm not a big fan of it. Probably on par with SM, but with a nicer looking world and better Pokédex. The Eurogamer review really does hit nearly every thought I have. In fact, Pokémon Sword and Shield is entirely dungeonless. There is no route or cave or building or wood more complex than Red, Blue and Yellow's Viridian Forest, the tutorial pseudo-dungeon at the start of generation one. Nothing in the game comes close to even Mt. Moon or Rock Tunnel, let alone the twelve floors of warp-pad mayhem in Silph Co. - all first-generation locations that were fully realised in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, both ostensibly remade versions of the classic games, but for children. Is the worst part of the game for me, Galar is lovely looking, it really is, but it's so so shallow. The routes are mostly just straight lines or curving paths. There's two early game caves and again they're just one single path that curves left and right. There's nothing to explore, nothing to see that's off the beaten path, because none of the routes or caves or anything let you go off the beaten path.
I don’t like ”dungeons” in Pokemon anyway. After S/M I’m just happy gyms are back. The trials sucked so hard.
