so pokemon masters has been decent so far. lots of fanservice nods to longtime fans with the trainer dialogues and such, clearly was made by people who are big fans. combat is pretty simplified, i would say even more so than your average gacha game but i havent delved that deep into character upgrading and usually as gacha games continue on and power creep starts to happen the combat options get a little complex. i imagine things like a hard mode will be added (if it isnt there yet) and the blue even coming up should provived with thougher stages which might add more complexity or planning to the combat. my main gripe though is how stingy the game is with the summoning material and i cant imagine they wont have to change that because it's the complaint ive seen from everyone, they probably want to balance it out by making the drop rates pretty high (7% for a 5 star is the most generous ive ever seen in a gacha game) and by giving out a lot of characters through the story mode but the grind for crystals is still gonna be grueling and tedious and eventually that will lead to a dropoff in players if they dont fix it. also the lack of gifts at launch is pretty glaring and the fact that the special guaranteed gacha is paid only is pretty insulting for a game thats trying to get its foot in to a tough market. these are my thoughts on it as a gacha fiend.
Are we still in agreement that Black/White has the best story of any core game? I haven’t played Black/White 2 so I may pick that up.
I thought B/W2 told a more cohesive version of the same story. There was a lot more to do and it expanded on the lore a lot.
B2W2 probably have the best story. I also love exploring that world. They’re probably second for me to XY, but a lot of that has to do with the 3DS capabilities.
anyone hear the news about the upcoming anime that was apparently confirmed? Thoughts? I’m not sure if it’s still considered a leak, so im being dodgy.
i would say bw2 has the best story but thinking about it bw has some really great story moments that are missing from bw2. the dragon tower segment was really cool and i love how the n's castle stuff comes after the elite 4, gave a lot more weight to the villain team resolution.
I've been slowing playing through BW2 for the past 6 months. I'm almost at the elite 4. It's the only Pokemon game I've ever played where I've not used my starter. I went with Snivey, but grass Pokemon seem to be pretty useless in Unova. I appreciate how difficult BW2 is compared to other games in the series. I've entered every gym battle around the same level as my opponent, and I've even lost a few. That usually doesn't happen to me during play-throughs.
I had to grind for a few days before the ground gym last week, since his Excadrill was so much stronger than my team. My last play through, I dropped my starter, but I'm sticking with Snivy for this go around. Gen5 definitely has the weakest starter trio.
If there is one thing I hated about BW, it was the grind. It felt like everything evolved at way higher levels than they should have. Hydreigon and Volcarona took FOREVER
My first experience with BW was through an emulator right after the game came out in Japan. Playing it that way might be the easiest (and certainly cheapest) way of going about it.
At least the lore for dragons is extremely late evolution though. Volcarona taking as long as it did is so inexcusable haha that grind is insane
That was me before the Dragon gym. How does the game not give you Ice Beam before that gym? Also, 100% right about the weakest starters.
Direct was tonight, Galar research update thread for y'all! I need the teakettle Pokémon and will do a run of Shield with a full squad of those motherfuckers
The new mons both look great, and the features look cool. But that was a pretty underwhelming trailer...
Character customization is cool. I haven't played the last few gens, so I don't know if previous games have had that.
