That was one of the main features of the first game to encourage talking to other people with the other games.
Yeah I know that. It just seems weird to still have that in the newer games. Idk. I haven’t really played Pokémon since the early games but I’ve really been getting into Sun lately and want to complete the dex eventually.
The GTS exists which makes it easier to make Pokemon evolve via trading. Just leave them there in one day, and when you get them back they should evolve. Just make sure to put something ridiculous in the trade request, like a level 100 Mew or something so the Pokemon you're trying to evolve doesn't actually get traded.
What’s the GTS? Sorry, like I said, I’ve been out of the main Pokémon games for awhile so not too sure how things work these days haha.
Haha yeah I should have explained it more. It stands for Global Trading System. Basically you can trade Pokemon online: you just drop a Pokemon there, and then put in a trade request. For example you can drop in a Haunter, and request for a Graveler in return. The rule must be that it must be in your Pokedex for you to be able to select it. So basically what you can do is drop in a Haunter (or any pokemon that evolves via trading), request for a ridiculous Pokemon like a level 100 Mew, or whatever you have in your Pokedex. If the Pokemon you deposited stays there for at least a day, when you take it out it will evolve into a Gengar. You should already have access to GTS already, just play around with the menu and look for it.
There's another system called Wonder Trade wherein you send a Pokemon you own, and players from all over the world also does the same, and then you get back a random Pokemon. Lots of people send really good stuff via Wonder Trade so I recommend you spend a bit of time in there too. I've gotten Bulbasaur and the other starters just by Wonder-trading.
Thanks for the info! Very helpful. I probably should’ve looked up more info when coming back to the core games but I’m having a blast getting back into them anyways.
pokemon has always been a series that has pushed hard the concept of "this is a game you play with friends", they want you trading, they want you battling, trade evolution pokemon are one way the series encourages the idea.
Maybe it does and something got screwed up? I just know that happened once but it was also the only time I got something that should have evolved through trade.
I once got a Graveler in Wonder Trade holding an everstone. It was nicknamed "NoEvo". That is almost as bad as the dozens of Yungoos and Gumshoos I've gotten named Trump.
Is anyone in here playing Pokémon Quest? How the heck do you get your Pokémon to learn new moves? I have a level 16 Geodude who joined my ground and his stats rock, but all he knows is Harden.
in the training section theres an option for move learning, you need to have another pokemon of the same species that will be used up in the process and the move the pokemon learns is random.
