Landorus T is on almost every team and it gets so boring. Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Heatran are almost as bad too

I like the tiers because it gives “lower” Pokémon places they can thrive. I don’t like the tiers because people have this weird obsession with “viability” and trashing people who use mons they don’t like.
As a competitive Pokemon and Smash Bros player, it's just trying to perfect the hobby you love. One of my favorite things about competitive mons is using EV spreads / movesets to optimize it as a counter for something popular in the metagame. Stuff like running HP Ice when Landorus is common or other similar lure sets specifically designed to make a bad match up a good one interest me.
