I've hatched probably 30+ eggs and only 2 were something I didn't have before. The rest were the most common shit.

Scyther keeps evading me, that and Vulpix are the only Pokemon I keep seeking on my nearby but never run into.

To be fair, it specifically tells you to walk to hatch the eggs. Everyone's trying to game the system!

So I read the articles on the front page but I have a question. I have a geodude and a graveler that are similar in CP. should I evolve the geodude to get a better graveler and then go for the Golem or should I just go straight for Golem? I also have a Rapidash that is 151 CP and several ponyta that are in the 600s. In that case it would just be better to evolve the Ponyta than power up the Rapidash right?

I don't know why anyone is concerned with CP at all.

So does it not matter then if I want to take on a gym that has Pokemon with 1500+ CP and none of mine are above 1000? I just want to be able to compete with them.

It would take a ton of candy to level up a really weak second evolution. For some Pokemon that I don't care about and know I won't really use in gym battles, I'll just evolve them to get the Pokedex entry.

If you're wanting the strongest Pokemon possible, it's probably best to get the strongest base-level guy and then evolve them. It costs more candy to power them up and also costs a toooooon more stardust to the point that I don't even know if it's possible. Plus, if you have to catch a million of the same Pokemon anyways, you're sifting through and finding the strongest one possible by the time you're ready to evolve.

I typically haven't had much problem taking down gyms with high CP. You do have six pokes. You can also team up.

Gyms also don't feel important at all.

  11. Depends if you care about fighting at gyms or just care about the pokedex entries. I have a higher CP geodude than my graveler, so I'm gonna evolve the geodude for the better graveler and then go for golem. I also have a really weak Metapod, but I'm gonna evolve it anyways since I don't care about using a butterfree to fight in gyms and just want the pokedex entry.

Yeah I don't feel the need to take on a bunch of gyms but every once in a while I would like to win a battle. My problem is that I never really come across high level ones to begin with so my strongest ones are all around 600-700 and usually get knocked out pretty quickly.

    Hatch a 10k egg for a Shellder. Hatch a 2k egg for a Squirtle. I don't get this game.

My 4th 10k egg hatched into a 800cp jynx. I'm content but I will not be completely satisfied until I get an aerodactyl

I've only had three 10k eggs... Got an Eevee, Pinsir, and Scyther. The only three in that group that I already have besides a Snorlax. Convinced that it's rigged.

cp doesn't really determine future strength, it's the amount of stardust required to level up that gives you insight into what level the pokemon is. if a geodude and graveler have the same cp, the graveler could still have the higher IVs/potential.

if you log in to pokeadvisor.com and click on manager, you can sort your pokemon by IV%.

All issues aside, it's really damn impressive how little data this game uses. Seriously only 76 MB since I got it the day after it came out and I play it pretty much every day.

My last 10 10k eggs have been... Drumroll please... 3 Scyther, 4 Electabuzz, and 3 Magmar. Not a goddamn Snorlax in sight and I've been walking so much. Ughhhhhhhh. Grant me strength dog.

Just so I'm clear on this, higher stardust requirements are a good thing right?

the higher requirement just signifies that their level is higher. that's not inherently a good or bad thing, but if you're comparing pokemon within the same species that have similar cp, the pokemon with the lower stardust likely has higher potential. this is because it has more levels left to grow than the higher stardust one.

I guess I haven't taken notice but do Pokemon of the same species (and in this case of a similar cp) grow cp at different rates when the stardust is different?

Also, I'm not sure why I'm even curious about this, lol. I don't play much for the competitive component of the game.

I drive around at about an average of 15-20 mph at night trying to hatch eggs and I don't seem to ever have an issue with it registering. It doesn't always immediately show up, but I'll close the app and check after reopening and the distance is registered. Call me a cheater idgaf. Also, got my first Omanyte out of a 10k yesterday during a lucky egg and it was the big final bump I needed to hit level 23. Currently at 97/98 (still have not seen another friggin Tauros.)
