I wouldn't even drive across town for this game. Although, across town here is still 45-minutes.

Pretty sure it's a known fact that you can only do the trick once for each eeveelution and then it's just luck. For those of you saying it's worked more than once just remember that it's a 1/3 chance. Pretty good odds.

I drive 45 minutes to work every day right now until I move in a month so it's no biggy to go farm for a Pokemon I literally never see anywhere.

Another good point. The closer distance it is!

And all six Eevee's I've used the naming convention for came out how I wanted them.

If people got half as worked up about legitimate social issues as they do about Pokemon Go, maybe we'd get some shit done for bettering the world for everyone. Hot damn the people in that reddit are toxic at best.

Jealous! I have an Ivysaur as well but that bulbasaur is pretty strong for a starter. My Ivysaur is only a CP571.

This is a stupid mindset. Just because people are passionate or interested in a game doesn't automatically mean they don't care about social issues. The two have no correlation.

'k. I'd bet money that the Venn Diagram of people in that reddit thread and people who are socially active is a lot closer to a figure eight than a circle. But if you're not getting the point, let me rephrase then: if you have time to vehemently complain about a free game, then you probably live a cushy life. Quit being petty and use your voice to exact change in causes you believe in instead. There are plenty of things in the world to get worked up about. A free game has never been, and will never be, one of them.

I have a weekly trivia team too. Our pub has 2 pokestops in its radius, 3 if the GPS is wonky. I love trivia. We usually get a 30 dollar gift card for the bill and we also won a tournament which was $2500 cash prize.

Nice! I do it with my dad and his neighbors. We've come in first, second, and third once each out of the six times we've done it. No tournaments or anything yet. I wish it was a quicker process. Two hours is a long time. There's a park and cemetery less than a minute's drive away with eight Pokestops and two gyms, so I always go stock up before and re-stock up after.

posting on the internet takes roughly 15 seconds. chill. people can care about multiple things. you're complaining about people complaining...why aren't you out spending your time talking about social justice instead of that? cmon, you know that argument is a dead end.

So I started 3 5K eggs at the exact same time. One of them just hatched at like 2.1K. Wtf. It was a magikarp.

yes, because calling people out for complaining about things that aren't worth complaining about and encouraging a call to action towards things that do need change is totally the same thing as just "complaining about people who complain." do i get frustrated as hell playing this game? every day. but some of the reactions i've seen around the web, particularly the reddit thread in question, are just ridiculous and absurd.

This is a fair point but ultimately an optimistic one. All this game proves is how popular escapism is - people hate the real world unfortunately; thats why people love movies, books, TV & games so much. This particular game is so overwhelmingly popular for two reasons IMO:
    1) The nostalgia factor from a previous form of escaping being brought back in a fun, innovative & accessible way.
    2) The fact it puts you in-game in a way people have never seen before. It's literally enhancing people's mundane reality!!!

Have you seen how much hate players of this game get from non-players too? They can't stand that people have a new form of escapism while they're stuck dealing with reality! :crylaugh:

I'm trying to be more optimistic in the face of so much fear and pessimism these days. So I'm glad that you put it that way in the face of the fact I feel like I fail at being optimistic pretty much daily. And I agree entirely. Escapism coupled with nostalgia is what makes this game HUGE. And at it's core, it's a really fun idea and I love it.

And yeah, again, unnecessary things to get worked up over! Let people escape how they want! Especially in something as non-issue as a game that encourages exercise.

You are right aswell though - if more people expressed the same passion for social issues, real change could happen much quicker. @Chaplain Tappman is right in his comment in that people care about multiple things, but people got as pissed off at social issues as they did with Niantic who knows what could happen. They'll hold Niantic to the sword for ultimately irrelevant things but would be the first to make excuses about "gamergate" or whatever...

:eyeroll:I know what trivia is as a game. The way you were using it made it seem like an actual destination. My bad for not being more clear. But when someone posts a picture of rare Pokemon and says they spotted them at "trivia" and someone else asks where/what that is... I mean, come on. Lol
