I just need 24 more Dratini candies. So this weekend is like my one and only shot at that. Just more motivation to get out and go for a run every day this week!

Insane to think that it's only going to take 30km to get there when normally it would take me 120km. Ridiculous.

 

Never mind about the dex question. I found it lol. If you include Heracross, which I do because I live close enough to the Orlando area where it's not something completely unattainable it's 235.

Right now I'm sitting at 225/233

5. Donphan (9 Candies)
6. Porygon2 (40 Candies)
7. Miltank
8. Blissey (13 Candies)
9. Pupitar (No Candies needed, Just waiting on a better Larvitar before evolving)

I'm going to be doing a lot of walking over the next week.

There was a lot of server issues yesterday too so don't be surprised if the event gets extended too.

 

EU pokedex is 233, so at 225 I only have 8 left to get. Will be down to 5 left to get by the end of next week! That's actually exciting! I'M ALMOST 30 YEARS OF AGE FFS!

 

Heh. If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty excited about getting down to 3 away and I just turned 44!

 

lol, we're both cool as hell and I won't allow anyone else to convince me otherwise! If I do complete the dex though I will likely stop playing - after 700+ kilometers walked, 900+ eggs hatched and 5700+ pokemon caught (and counting!) I think I've made the most of this game!

 

Same here...at least until they introduce Gen 3.

 

I feel like this game really plays on people like me who are "completionists (made up word)." Even though I only need 10 more to finish out the dex currently available to me, I still would like to eventually get a Red Gyrados, all the regionals, legendary pokemon (once they are released), and all the different variations of unown.

On top of that I would eventually like to get to a level 40. I'm a level 33 right now. So, this game is far from over for me lol.

That's exactly what it is lol it's not really "fun" aside from the collecting aspect. It's addictive. Though I guess that's always been the nature of Pokemon.

Want to catch all of the Pokemon? Buy three versions of the same game. Want all of the cards? Sorry, gotta get the Japanese packs too. Oh you've caught all of the Pokemon now? Guess we'll introduce color variations now so you can button mash for hours on end.

 

I hate it, because when the game was first released it was fun. I'm a pretty anti-social guy, but I was out talking to people, going on "poke dates" with my wife, having fun with my kids, and getting exercise. Now it's just turned into a whole different experience. I still enjoy the game, but not in the same way as when it first came out. I almost got that same feeling I did when it first came out when gen 2 was released, but that quickly went away. I'm hoping whenever they release the legendary pokemon it brings me back to that first day feeling.

Sad thing is, I never really played past gen 2, but I know that even once the release Pokemon that I have no recollection of or nostalgia for I'll still keep playing.

 

That was exactly my experience, but I faded much sooner. I never even played Gen 2 when I was young so once that dropped, I had no more nostalgia and realized how much of a grind this game was and not much else.

The only reason I'm still really playing is because I came within three of finishing the available Gen 1 Pokedex (Aerodactyl, Dragonite, and Hitmonchan). Two of those are very possible during this event.

 

Thanks to the event, I finally evolved my Omanyte into an Omastar, completing the Gen 1 available (to me) Pokedex. Thanks to GPS drift and the increased buddy candies, I have 95 Mareep candies now as well. I just need that damned sun stone and to hatch a proper Tyrogue (I doubt I will ever get an Unown).

 

My Blastoise knows flash cannon which is a steel move. I mean, I get that he has two canons but fuck off I wanted hydro pump.

 

Hitmonlee continues to be my white whale. I hatched my 4th Tyrogue, but it's a Chan if I evolve it.

Event has been fun so far, though. Finally got a 2500CP Rydon, and just focused on upgrading current dex entries that are weak CP.

 

I'm on level 25 and have only one Pokémon on or above 2000CP. I've been playing since January. Is it because my level isn't high enough? I tend to evolve the Pokémon that are appraised the highest and only evolve not so great Pokémon if I want the experience/dex entry. Do they have to be maxed out before I evolve them? I see all of these ppl with dozens of Pokémon above 2000 and still with hundreds of thousands of dust. I don't get it lol

 

Randomly caught a 2,500+ Snorlax today on my lunch break. I know this has nothing to do with the event, but that made me pretty happy.

 

Man I got Lee and Chan both in the first month of the game (so they are both less than 100CP) but haven't seen another of either one since. That would be driving me mental. Never hatched a Tyrogue either so I guess that Hitmontop is going to wait a while.

 

I still need Hitmonchan and it blows. I hatched a Hitmonlee during a double-candy event though so I have plenty of candy if I ever manage to hatch a Tyrogue or two.

 

I hatched 3 Goldeens in a row yesterday and just hatched back to back Quilfishes with 2 incubators going. WTF

 

My hatches have been shit, (I now loathe Mantines) but my candies for the rock types are all pretty much at 100 or 200+. Gonna wait until the end of the event to evolve but I'll have enough for like, 2 of each. The spawns for this event are nuts. Even caught 5 Aerodactyl today and only kept 2.

Sadly enough, I have seen only one Larvitar.

 

How in the hell... I just want one! Ever!

 

Well a lot of the people in this thread who are light years ahead of me don't have Miltank... and mine hatched during the baby event. That is most surprising to me lol.
