After over a year and then walking him as a buddy, i'm currently .2km away from earning my 400th Magikarp candy.

 

You're going to catch a shiny magikarp right after you evolve.

I've gotten 3 upgrades, 3 dragon scales (lmao)

Got both my sunstones but have yet to get a metal coat or kings rock

 

I got about 6 Sun Stones in a row. Now getting nonstop Metal Coats.

 

Still have no Dragon Scale.


BUT I DO HAVE THIS.


I was honestly hoping for it to be a bit stronger. My Magikarp had 165cp with excellent stats. I still haven't evolved or caught any Pokémon that are above 2600cp. Do you have to reach level 30 in order to get Pokémon at that calibur?

 

Randomly got a kings rock today.

I'm holding out on evolving my magikarp in case I ever get a shiny one. So I'm still never getting gyarados I guess

 

I have almost 1400 Magikarp candies

 

My first 2600+ was halfway through 29 and it was 2601, haha. I'm 30, and my highest is now 2700 and some change.

 

I feel slightly better haha. I'm at 28.

 

Level 29. My best is a maxed out 2849 SNORLAX with around 90% IVs

 

I have two over 2600cp - my Snorlax at 2835 and my Espeon at 2631. If I had the candies I could power up my Snorlax a little bit more at this level (31 atm), then hopefully I can boost it up over 3000cp when I get to level 32!

 

Speaking of Espeon/Umbreon, I haven't been able to evolve a single other one since the first two I got using the name trick. Anyone else gotten lucky and evolved more than one?

 

You have to walk an Eevee as your buddy for 10km then evolve at night or day. It's not luck.

 

I was under the impression that Pokemon reach max strength at trainer level 30, did that change?

 

I think Pokémon you can encounter in the wild are maxed out at 30 but you can power them up to 40. I could be wrong.

 

Ah, cool. Damn. If you're right, I need to go back and un-favorite all the ones that are "maxed."

 

But I think as you get closer and closer to maxed out they will increase by less and less CP.

 

I was able to power my Snorlax, as one example, as much as I could at level 30, then when I levelled up to 31 I was able to power it up a bit more. I think every pokemon has a max CP and only reaching that or reaching level 40 will stop you being able to power it up any further.

 

Max CP would be a 100% IV at level 40.

 

That's the ONLY way they let you now? Dumb.

 

It's always been that way, the naming trick is just a bonus easter egg

 

It just kind of sucks because I wasted my "name trick" on a very sub par Espeon and I have absolutely no desire to walk an Eevee for a better one when I have a ton of other ones I would rather be walking. (currently that would be Chansey)
