I would have loved to have been able to do that near some water! I haven't really been able to use a lure for a long time now and I didn't have any luck during the water event.

Maybe my terrain is just different here. I felt like I've hardly played this game since Gen 2 came out and easily got a Meganium.

 

Seen 2 Dragonair silhouettes that I never found since the game started. Would have been super helpful. Sitting at 71 Dratini candies because of 1 hatch, 6 catches, and a shit ton of walking.

 

Has the event ended by the way? I can't tell because I never really noticed a change. Except for seeing that Maganium silhouette.

 

I have 71 candies but already have a Dragonair. It might be a year before I get those last 29 candies.

 

I have caught 6 Dratini in 6 hours today. It is crazy how rare they are for some people seeing as they're a first-stage pokemon that evolves twice, yet needs 125 candies to evolve fully. Very unfair IMO, especially seeing as there are now pokes like Larvitar & Mareep at the same rarity level for players to have to deal with too.

 

It's way too late to be complaining, but this is why I was surprised they didn't have varying candy requirements for evolutions (like needing 400 for Gyarados). I feel like with a lot of work, you can keep hitting up spots where Magikarp are available until you finally get enough to evolve, even though it takes sooo many more candies.

Dragonite still requires a lot but I haven't even been able to FIND another Dratini for months now, so it's just a whole lot of endless searching. I'm not even really playing the game at this point, just walking.

TL;DR - they should be slightly easier to find but require a shit ton more to keep you involved.

 

To be honest I'm not mad that it's taking me so long to get it. I'm more upset that everyone else seemed to have them in the first week. It's a fucking Dragonite and should be by far the hardest thing to get. 18 months of grinding hard seems appropriate. Will be so much more satisfying when and if it finally happens.

 

50+ of my Dratini candies were from walking with my Dragonair as my buddy and it only took a few months.

I hatched my first Dratini with a much better IV than my Dragonair when I was 1 candy away. That would've really pissed me off but it gave me 25 extra candies so I evolved it and never ended up evolving that Dragonair.

 

Yeah I have 2 Dratini, 1 hatched and 1 caught, never seen any others.

 

I just meant I've already walked him 90km which is only worth 18 candies...so I've lost motivation. haha.

I'm about to start adding more running back into my workouts though which should help a little.

 

10km egg drop rates seem to have increased exponentially in the last month of so and Dratini are now in the most common tier there so I'm holding out hope.

 

I said earlier in the thread, but I just hatched a Larvitar and was disappointed it wasn't a Dratini. haha. I'm getting the itch to buy some incubators to try to knock that one out.

 

I've only caught 1 Dratini and hatched 2. Have a dragonair thanks to the extra candy from eggs event. But realistically, if I've only encountered 3 since day one, who knows if I'll ever get a Dragonite. I was in the same situation with Magikarp until the event.

 

Apparently lots of people were reporting an increase in evolution items recently. Not sure what's up with that as it didn't seem to really coincide with the event... but I'm about to run off to a spot with lots of stops and see what happens. I've only gotten 1 evo item from a stop and that was right when Gen 2 came out.

Edit: 100 stops later, still nothing as usual.

 

Yes, it becomes much more common in the other games.

Gen 4 has a lot you could be saving candy for now, granted we get there. in addition to lots of new baby forms of current Pokemon, these all evolve with a special requirement/item:

Seven day spin provided another Metal Coat. I now have 2 Metal Coats, 2 Dragon Scales, a Kings Rock, and an Up-grade. All I need is a damned Sun Stone. On a happier note, I hatched a 10k egg on Tuesday that was a Mareep which doubled my candies to 69. I have another 10k incubating now. If this does the same, I may just faint. I collected them both on my birthday, so that would be a nice little present.

Sun Stone is def the rarest evolution item; I have 5 kings rock's, 4 dragon scales, 2 metal coats and 1 upgrade but no sun stones (only had 2 ever).

 

Think Sun Stone was the first one I ever got! I think I've had one of each besides upgrades (but I can't use that anyway).

 

Item drop rates just increased so you should get what you need soon enough. I currently have one of each but all I need is the Sun Stone. I have enough Sunkern but just waiting for a good one.

 

I have never been able to find a "good" sunkern, they are all awful. The one I evolved wasn't even 100cp I dont think but the Sunflora was 1200+ !!!

 

I think I evolved a 241CP Sunkern. They're as common as Sentret around here.
