Yeah it blows - I reached 75km with my Pikachu/Raichu so that was great for evolving then boosting Raichu.

Eggs are 100% the main way I get what I need from this game but I've hatched 1 Bulbasaur ever so I cba to wait for the possibility of that. I'm 1 Squirtle from a Blastoise too, but Squirtles are wayyy more common around here so that will be less of a gamble than waiting for a Bulbasaur to appear!

 

I don't really play this game anymore. They had the ability to do so much with this game and they blew it. It's not fun anymore if they aren't going to add battling and a better fighting system with gyms. I felt like I was catching pokemon for literally no reason.

 

We are in the exact same boat, just switch out Bulbasaur for Charmander. I've walked 30k and got a Charmeleon with about 8 candies now.

My whole city has never had a good spot for Charmanders besides one time. Apparently, before the first nest switch, there was a Charmander nest at this very upscale Country Club, and players were getting kicked out and being threatened to have the police called on them because there were so many people trespassing. haha. Idiots. But now, you might find one every couple of weeks.

 

Never seen a Charmander in the wild ever I don't think! Or maybe one to go with the 1 Bulbasaur I've seen in the wild lol. The 3 starters & their evolutions are clearly fan favorites, so why they make them so rare is beyond me! Also, I've never been aware of any nests whatsoever in my area either!

 

It is pretty strange! Like I've said before in this thread, Bulbasaurs are all around here. I've even caught a handful of Ivysaurs. I think I'm at about 70+ Bulbasaur candies to work towards my second Venusaur.

The other two you have to be lucky to find. I've barely managed to get a Wartortle and Charmeleon.

 

Seems like a lot of people have an abundance of just one of the three, but the other two would be rare as F.
Squirtle is the common one for me because I live by the sea, perhaps!

 

Had a damn good lure right just now - got a Weezing at 1300+cp (that I transferred right away lol), a decent Cloyster, decent slowpoke, then 2 Abras in a row which got me my Alakazam at last! 1400+cp!

128/129 atm.

 

Holding spots in 4 level 10 gyms and one level 8 has really helped me course correct my incorrect use of Stardust when the game first dropped. Back up to about 45k Stardust. Trying to get to at least 70k before doing anything.

Yes, but I never cared about gyms

 

But winning gyms helps you hatch eggs...

I have almost 200k stardust just nothing good to spend it on.

I like fighting gyms so I can save coins for more bag space. I run out of items way too easily.

 

Ill fight once in blue moon but I'm only level 21 and my highest is a 1750ish Vape. I'll win easily most of the time but holding it is like impossible. Plus I hate how every gym is in a very public locale by me. Embarrassing standing around and mashing my phone.

 

I think he means it indirectly helps... Like gyms = coins = incubators = more Pokemon.

 

Holding gyms gives you coins which you can use to buy incubators which you can use to hatch more eggs which you can use to finish your pokedex.

Haha oh, well yes that is true in itself. I think it's just different here in LA. The amount of time and effort it takes to even hold ONE gym for 24 hours is insane, and not worth the coin payoff honestly

 

You don't really have to hold it for 21 hours all the time. If you can quickly take 3 or 4 really quickly and cash in then it can be worth it. Right now I've been holding a gym for over a month so that a constant 10 coins a day and then once and a while if I come across something that isn't level 10 and it's convenient I'll take it and get 20. I get an incubator every week and a half to two weeks. Pretty sad.

 

I'm tellin ya, that is nearly impossible in LA. Any gyms around here are level 10 and they ALL change colors on the daily.

 

they need to push a big feature update soon (tracking, trading) or their DAU count is going to drop significantly with winter coming.

 

This is about what I can manage. I bike the trails every Saturday, and one of the more desolate parts has a gym that goes relatively untouched sometimes. I left one guy in there for nearly 3 weeks. Along that same trail in the more populated parts, you can find about four more gyms that are usually easy to take down or join. One time I went, and literally four gyms had an open spot. So I grabbed 50 coins that day for no work.
