I still have that three paw glitch going on so I'm really bummed about that.

 

Still have the paw clitch. Got to level 15. Finally started messing around with the gyms and enjoy it. Hatched a 10 km egg into a scyther which was cool. Tomorrow is my first day off since I got the game so I'm excited to go explore since I'm sick of seeing the same things over and over. All the other Pittsburgh people where are some good spots to go looking?

 

Try Frick park. That was good for me last Sunday. I got a squirtle & Pikachu. The bulk of Squirrel Hill has been dead for me every time I try.

The Strip District has so many stops & gyms in such a small, concentrated area that its likely the biggest bang for the least amount of walking.

I want to try North Park, Southside, and Lawrenceville still myself.

 

Downtown by Point Park has a PokeStop on every corner. And I saw a bunch of Squirtles down there the other day. I also caught a Magnamite, Voltorb, and Grimer down there the other day which I haven't seen anywhere else.

I've heard good things about Frick and Schenley too though.

 

Good to know about Point State Park. Gonna walk that way now. It's only 1.6 MI from my house. Not sure what the KM conversion is, haha.

 

I actually meant point park university. My office is a block of their campus. But I think it extends down that way too.

Do you live on the Northside?

 

I caved. I don't get the hype. I wasn't into Pokemon when I was younger. My husband when it first came out was "no way am i playing that"...now he's obsessed haha. But it did get him to go on a walk with me yesterday.

 

I live in a rural area, so it's been slim pickings here. I spent my whole day in Columbia yesterday. Holy shit, bigger cities rule for this game. Best finds were a Vulpix, Clefairy, Marowak, Squirtle and two Bulbasaurs. Got a ton of 5km eggs incubating, and I won my first Gym battle finally. Didn't take it down but I did beat all 4 Pokemon there. Also saw an Ivysaur in the wild, but couldn't catch it because it was too strong 596CP. Overall, fantastic day. Can't wait to go to another big city soon!

 

pretty sure pokemon go is the catalyst for me attempting to get a new phone, due to the GPS being broken on my current phone. hah.

 

I live by the beach and the piers by me are super hot spots. Caught a Growlithe and Clefairy on one pier last night. Pretty cool atmosphere for playing. Another pier has 3 pokestops on it with the end of the pier being a gym!

 

I live in the Strip District. Just got done roaming Point State Park though and actually did see a lot of Squirtles so thanks for the suggestion.

There's only one gym there, located at the fountain, and its constantly changing owners because so many people are rolling through there.

I was on my bike the whole time and I have to say that is the best way to get the maximum amount of distance in towards your eggs. Hatched something like 5 within a 60 minute period by just going around the park in circles.

 

the unresponsiveness/lag is fucking infuriating. i tried to go out on my bike for an hour and had to hard close the app at least 10 times.

 

also, i thought once you beat a gym you took it over but i guess thats not the case? i took out all of the pokemon holed up at a gym by my house but they were still there afterwards. did i just knock down the prestige a little bit?

 

It's the prestige that matters. If you beat all the Pokemon in a gym then it goes does 2000, but will go down less if you only beat a few. The goal is to get the prestige down to 0, then the gym is vacated

 

Gotcha. I didn't know people really lived over there.

 

I was having the same issue because I had it on battery save mode. Once I turned that off it worked smooth.

 

Came in this thread to say that the "Sparky" trick worked for my Jolteon but I see that I already did that last night. Don't drink and browse the Internet, kids.

Other weird occurrences: when I opened my app at a party yesterday (for the first time in at least a couple of hours) one of my eggs had hatched into a Rhyhorn and somehow one of my Lucky Eggs got triggered. I didn't have the app open and wasn't notified of either of these things. Still trying to figure out how it happened.

 

I used a Lucky Egg the other day and it didn't activate. I was so mad since I was saving it to use when evolving.

My Sunday job has a pokestop that I was, literally, on the border of. It all depended on where I was in the room when I opened the app. I probably hit it about 30 times today. I really needed those balls.

 

Game just launched in Canada and now I can't get on anymore lol.

Since I downloaded from US store, I can't buy any coins. Does anyone know if I uninstall and then download from Canada store, will all my stuff still be there or will I have to start over?

 

I caught a Seel as I was pulling up into my driveway. So exciting. I've been seeing that silhouette near my house for a week.

I imagine it would since you're using logins not tied to the app. That's a good question though, I guess you'll have to see whenever the servers go back up.

I just got it to work and caught TWO squirtles. Never seen one before today. I hit tons of creeks and ponds at all the parks but no luck. Turns out they would rather hang out in the frozen section at Walmart.
