there is no bigger gap in life than between my excitement over the fact I could get one of the starters when a 2km is hatching, and my despair when it's the 3rd Pidgey in a row.
It is criminal that Pidgeys/Rattattas/Weedles/Caterpies/Zubats/Spearows are even in eggs in the first place. It is not a reward when you've passed 50 of those pokemon on the walk to hatch them anyway!

Caught an Aerodactyl this morning on my walk to work. What an ordeal to catch it.

 

most of my 2k's have been magikarp. i have two with 97% perfect IVs.

 

I keep seeing a shadow, but can't find the flipping thing.

I was also tracking a Kadabra for a while last night but never found it.

 

Haha. So true. You have to work so hard for those eggs and get nothing in return. I wouldn't mind if those same Pokemon were in there, but it's pretty obvious that they are more common in the eggs just like they are in the regular spawning aspect. The one Squirtle and two Pikachus are the only ones I've gotten that haven't been the most common ones. To catch Pidgeys all day long and not see a Charmander since you've started playing then hatch only Pidgeys out of the eggs is a real bummer.

 

Yesterday:
First Magmar CP1300
First Vulpix CP Weak af
Evolved my Cubone into my Marowack (spelling might be butchered)
Caught my first Dewgong CP Weak af bit it's a pokedex entry
Also got a better Diglett

 

caught/saw my first electrode on the way to work today. cp 700 something. that was nice.

ran 5 1/2 miles with the app on and registered 1k on my egg. that was not nice

 

I've done nothing in the past forever because nothing is here and I swear my nearby feature is messed up because nothing ever actually follows the order of it when for my friends it works perfectly

 

How do people get coins from gyms?? I've just gotten XP and I've held gyms a few times.. do they need to be held for awhile??

 

You can grab some coins as soon as you put a Pokemon in, but you can't get them again for another 21 hours (which is damn near impossible). As soon as you have a Pokemon in a gym, you press your Pokeball button on the main screen, press the "Shop" icon, and there should be a green shield in the top right corner. You press that to redeem your coins.

 

I always loved Diglett/Dugtrio in the games.. but I haven't even seen a shadow of them around Pittsburgh.

what is the cap mph you can go for it to register?

 

I don't think they've made anything obvious with this game lol I didn't even understand how to get stuff from the Pokestops for at least a day.

 

It seems like it is under 20 in my experience.

 

Biked at around 11-14 mph for 17 miles and it didnt register. So I guess 10 or under

i was probably averaging 8mph and barely logged anything sooo

 

I think the way it works is it just checks your location every minute or so. I don't think it clocks your actual speed. So if you make it from one point to another way too quickly within one minute, it won't log it. The opposite can work sometimes, as well, where if you are riding in a car that's going too fast but then sit at a stop light for a portion of that minute, you can still log some distance because it can average out. Also, if your GPS causes your guy to walk around on his own, he'll rack up some distance if he is not in the same spot he was the last time it checked.

The reason this kind of sucks is because if you run some distance around a curve, it will essentially only log a straight line from point A to point B and won't give you the actual distance you ran. At least that seems to be the case that most people have reported and could explain a lot of the inconsistencies.
