Being at my parents for the holidays is really going to fuck with me. I don't think there's more than 3 stops in a 15 mile radius, and no gyms.

 

i’ve been a good boy at not spending money on this game since the regionals were in 7km eggs but they just got $10 outta me for the Ultra Box because i need my 1% chance at shiny Azurill

 

Maybe I’ll never see a steel type Pokémon ever again

you got three shinies in one day!

 

There had to be some kinda shiny boost going on that day

 

I saw like 5 yesterday and one today

 

I realllly doubt the bonuses will stack, it would just be too good to be true

Just realized some Pokémons colors are different based on their genders

 

The gender thing on the whole seems like a huge missed opportunity, they could vary the designs in some really cool ways.

 

There’s also some subtle differences in design. Luxray has shorter ears or something.

 

Just started playing again after 2 years and I feel totally lost with all the new shit.

Just sent you a gift and noticed after my friends list fiasco it doesn’t delete the progress we’ve already made! Pretty cool and didn’t know that.

 

other than Snover, the rest of the new ones are super rare, huh! Has anyone caught any others?

 

the posted guide is good but long. i’d focus on three things:

- stardust rules everything. that was always the case but with the new ability to purchase additional moves with dust, you can never have enough. catch all the stuff you don’t “need” if you have the time if only for the dust.

- shinies are in the game now and are the biggest trophies. if you’re unfamiliar, its a special color scheme for a Pokémon. it’s purely cosmetic, stats aren’t better or anything. if you can’t tell the difference as they are sometimes subtle, the game does an animation of a burst of sparkles when you tap on one and then has a small icon on the Mon’s name bar. unless a special event boosts shiny rates for a specific Pokémon, you have about a 1/450 chance of encountering its shiny version any given time. not every Pokémon has a shiny form yet, they are kinda dripfeeding them in at a rate of 1 to 4 a month, but a lot of them do.

- do a research task every single day. for your seventh day you will get a special box that is themed for that specific month and gives you some good items and a Pokémon encounter. every month but two have had the reward be a legendary Pokémon. it’s a godsend for catching up on ones you’ve missed or would otherwise have to find a raid group for.

 

Wasn’t expecting this at all and was very excited to get a Zapdos today because of it.
