Yeah the "Nearby" feature is definitely broken, Niantic has acknowledged it but given no timeframe on when it'll be returned to normal haha. It sucks.

 

It's broken for everyone.

 

Ah, well good to know it's not just my account or area or something like that! Hope they get it back up soon it was super helpful lol. I think that you can still track them a little bit but if they move up on the list of Nearby's that you see, but that seems to be a lot less of an exact science lol

 

Hatched a Voltorb and Charmander so far today. Woo! First Charmander.

Same here. I had that happen last week and was so disappointed. At least the Stardust makes up for it. But ugh. I'm never gonna battle with Pinsir. It sucks.

 

Even though it gave very little direction it was still useful in knowing whether or not to pursue something. Ex: If I'm at home and I see a Haunter is nearby but I don't have the freedom to go far at the moment, I can tell by the 1 footprint to check the general surrounding area, and if there's 3 footprints I know there's pretty much no point.

We were able to use it pretty effectively by just walking in one direction for a while and if it decreased the amount of footprints we'd keep heading that way and if it increased them we'd go another way. It wasn't like a giveaway as to where the Pokemon were but it was definitely more helpful than it is now.

 

Pokevision definitely trumps it but that too doesn't work most of the time

 

I think it comes from spending a lot of time in the same area. I sat at the same bar stool last night for two hours through trivia and two Magikarp + two-to-four other random pokemon spawned every 15 minutes.

 

there are definitely locations that autospawn the same kind of pokemon on a pre-determined basis

 

Yeah I feel like I found some of them by using the nearby system, but now I never see anything on there. Like each time I've ever caught a Bulbasaur, it wasn't even on the nearby radar. It just popped up, so I hardly even pay attention to it....which is unfortunate considering its one of the games main features.

 

Yeah, they need to fix that shit.

 

My brother just caught a wild snorlax 908CP. Lucky son of a bitch.

 

Everything around this game is broken and yet here we all are.

I'm finally finding cool pokemon. Found a CP905 Arcanine the other day, and I found an Omanyte and a Squirtle at the movie theater yesterday. Hatching 3 eggs today. Hoping for something good.

 

The curve ball glitch is by far the most frustrating thing for me in this game.

 

I wasted like four Poke balls trying to catch a goddamn Zubat in my bathroom because of that curve ball glitch.

 

I give up when that happens, unless it's a super rare pokemon
