I really hope the Kanto event includes the regionals. If I can get a Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan, and get through this last tier for Mew I'll have gen 1 completely finished.

I already have Kangaskhan and Mr. Mime, but I got them a long time ago when I decided to get the gen 1 regionals in a non legit way. That's the only time I caught pokemon without actually going to its location, so I wish they make them available everywhere for the event. I really want to be able to say I got the entire Gen 1 in a legit way when I finally catch Mew.

 

Got to special research level 5 today. Had ditto within an hour, which I’m stoked about, cause I’ve got at least 20 of them since ditto has been available. The ghost portion is gonna take me a week or so though.

 

I'll just have to go out at 1 or 2 AM and catch some ghosts one night. That's when they spawn the most.

 

I can say that I have played this game

I don't know what your work/life schedule is, but as far as I can tell there is definitely a correlation between ghost type and it being dark outside. I get up and leave the house at about 6:00 in the morning and it's still pretty dark outside. I had 10 ghosts in about an hour in one of the "hot spots" where a lot of pokemon spawn. The ghost part of that research was one of them I thought was going to take me longer to do, but I quickly realized that it wasn't that bad as long as I was out during a time when it was dark outside and a lot of pokemon spawn. Also, I soloed 3 gengar raids that same morning, so that helped.

 

wonder if the Kanto event may carry with it the original legendary birds returning with the Lugia-esque shiny chance, would fit nicely with the full shiny rollout seemingly on the way

 

They should just release shinies of all the Kanto pokemon in one shot and just complete overwhelm everyone.

 

feels like there's a good chance that's what's coming. i hope so.

 

I wish that when I catch a pokemon with a 100% IV rating it would be one that was even remotely good. Caught a 100% IV Caterpie today :/

 

Yessss. Just got Moltres from my 7 day research reward. One of the only legendaries I didn't have yet.

 

2/2 for Latios. 84% and 91%

 

Just need 29 more Magikarp candy so I can move onto the next tier. Fortunately, it was raining today so I got about 75 candies from using pineape berries this morning before work.

 

Easily going to be my biggest hurdle. Magikarp are definitely not too common aside from a few parks around here but luckily I was already at 290 candy. Went ahead and set him as my buddy just to knock off some candy that I need.

 

Just got the Magikarp evolve today. Wish I could have gotten the 10 raids done today then all I would have is the last tier which I’m 100% sure I could grind out in the morning before work.

 

I had him as my buddy as soon as I read that was one of the researches. I think it really sucked because I had literally just evolved one when I was doing a mass evolve during the double XP event.

Well that's disappointing.

 

Well if I can get an Aerodactyl through the event, I will be happy. I still need that one somehow. I did, however, get Moltres today which is my first legendary since I've never gotten the chance to participate in a group raid.

 

They also never actually acknowledge shinies right? So there could be a ton of shinies coming.

The appearance of the Mythical Pokémon Mew has attracted Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Kanto region. These classic Pokémon will be seen more frequently starting April 10 at 1 P.M. PDT, so you’ll have the perfect opportunity to earn a gold Kanto medal and even complete your Kanto Pokédex!

What’s more, certain Pokémon such as Aerodactyl and Snorlax will be featured in Raid Battles across the world. Keep an eye out for one you haven’t encountered yet!

As you encounter and catch more Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region, all actions will be rewarded with double Candy. So, not only will you be able to catch Pokémon you might not frequently see, but you may also get the chance to register their evolved forms in your Pokédex as well.

During this event, there will also be special boxes containing Raid Passes! These boxes will give you an opportunity to challenge many powerful Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region.

This special celebration ends on April 17, so get out there and make some more discoveries. If all goes well, you may be able to finish your first Special Research request and encounter Mew!

Was really really hoping for a regional event from gen 1. Boring...This is the first event in a while that I have no desire to actively go out of my way to be a part of. The double candy is nice, but that's about it.

 

All about the double candy, very necessary. Otherwise, the event does nothing for me unless regionals show up
