If I am going for an afternoon to walk and play, I usually hit both. Empire plaza and the surrounding area is a goldmine, and then troy in the afternoon/night is great, but sketchy.

 

i have never done a raid and have no idea how to. i imagine my launch window poke's are garbage

 

Dude, idk how you could have this game, live/work where you do, and haven't gotten a raid yet. Look out your window I bet you can see one happening right now.

 

i redownloaded like yesterday for the first time since august 2016 haha.

 

Well there you go. Of course raids have been difficult for you to find.

i just don’t understand what to do and don’t want to saddle a group with a shitty Pokémon and waste a slot.

 

I mean, that's how you'll level up faster though. If there's a decent group of people, then it really won't matter what Pokemon you're using as long as your contributing to the fight. They can only see one of your pokemon at a time in fight anyways, and don't know who's who. You'll be good haha. If you walk by a gym and see a raid happening, click on the gym and look at the Raid boss. You can see if there are people in a lobby waiting to go in or not. I think it's extremely helpful.

 

honestly, it gets to a point where a body is just another body. If you're in like a 10+ person raid, chances are people have stronger ones than you that will deal the most damage but it can't hurt to have something else attacking it. the larger the groups the less it matters if you have weaker pokemon. Some people might be dicks about it and comment about your low level but, that just mean's they take a phone game way too seriously and need to cheel.

 

For now I have caught Mudkip, Torchic, Skitty, Makuhita, Gulpin and Roselia.

 

its always fun when you see a bunch of ttars, lugias, ans dragonites in a raid lobby and then theres a sentret trying it's best

 

Yeah, we have this one batshit crazy woman locally who tries to dictate what people should be powering up/putting their TM's towards because she's lvl 40 and is doing nothing with her life. She generally gets ignored/scolded when she's not around haha.

 

there are some pretty hardcore groups around where I live that have pretty "strict" rules about when and how they raid, who they let join that isn't part of their group, what pokemon they don't want you to use, etc.

they're mostly strict because they're all mystic and like to maximize their bonuses when they complete a raid. they arent mean or bad people but they're like, competitive lol

I never thought that there would be actual pokemon gangs but here we are

 

Yeah, that's overboard and takes away from the fun of the game. People in Albany sometimes try to act that way, but thankfully upstate New Yorkers don't play that shit. Many raiders are random and will publicly scold you for being a dick to others on the app.

 

lol there's a guy around here that will not accept people in his raid group because their level is not high enough. I had friends who arrived at a raid 2-3 minutes before me and he didn't want to wait for me because he said on Facebook he was starting it when the egg would open. He also tells everyone their Pokemon are crap and told some people that they were piles of shit because they were using a map to find the Pokemon they were missing. Like get your priorities straight man!

That's pathetic and 100% unnecessary. Anyone/everyone we raid with generally just does a public group, so we just say "go in." Anyone that tries to call for the private groups and separate colors usually is with one or two of their friends, and no one does it with them, so they just get in the public group as well haha. If I dealt with stuff like that regularly, I probably wouldn't be raiding at all.

 

It's pouring here and raining in the game. So. Cool. I'm easily amused I guess. No new Pokemon from my desk though.

Apparently weather adds/subtracts from attacks too? That's interesting
