Since I hatched a Ponyta to get a rapidash, I've hatched two more ponytas I don't need, a golden, two psyducks, and a tentacool, all useless. Still refusing to spend money on incubators.

My luck with 2k eggs is terrible. Always pidgey and rattata but I never learn my lesson

I've fallen off pretty hard with this game the last two weeks. I usually catch a lot while biking down a canal, so i recently evolved most of the water pokemon that spawn near me (Golduck, Seaking, Starmie, Poliwrath, Cloyster, Kingler). So now the only pokemon that's geographically common near new I haven't evolved already is Magikarp. Its hard to be motivated when the only new way to get pokemon in the area is hatching eggs (don't feel like buying more incubators) or getting 209 more magikarp candy. Dex is only 90/92

Last week, I hatched 4 Geodude 2k eggs in a row. Amazing. Will never happen again.

It feels like it is going to take forever to get candies this way, but I'm grateful that the concept even exists.

So you get candies for having your buddy out?

I'm ok with it taking a while to get candies to be honest. If this made it really easy to be candies I think it'd be a cop out. I like that this is another way to get specific candy that might be hard to get in regular play

Its 1-3-5K per candy depending upon the egg group the poke comes from.

Hatched a 510cp Jigglypuff. Definitely the best thing from a 2k egg I have gotten.

I just hatched an Eevee this morning. I feel like I've been lucky because I've gotten maybe a dozen or a few more 10k eggs throughout playing, but I'm not lucky in the way that literally half of them have been Eevees.

Although I'm slowing down and won't utilize it that much, it is a good compromise. It's still challenging and you actually have to obtain the Pokemon in the first place in order to get more candies for it (unlike the eggs where you'll just be randomly giving a rare Pokemon without searching for it).

Only times I'm going to use it will be for things like Rhyhorn where I only need six more candies but haven't seen one in weeks. Then I might walk my Pikachu around for those last 16 over the course of the next few months. haha.

I'm definitely trying to be strategic about it. I am using it first for the pokemon I see the least, even if I am like 3 candies away on another, because the idea is while getting candy for my most rare, I might find a less rare. If that makes sense..

This is true. My personal logic is that I'm slowing down on how often I actually open the app, so the only time I log much playing time anymore is on Saturdays when I do a long run or bike ride. I can get more distance than anything else, but I don't spend that much time looking for Pokemon anymore.

And also, there are a ton of relatively rare ones (at least in my area) that would take well over 100 miles to get so I would never realistically have one anyways (Dragonite, Charizard, Blastoise, etc.). Might as well not even bother with those.

yeah that's totally understandable. I am so close to geting all 142 that I can, that I gotta get detailed in how I do it!! Starting with candy for the hardest ones

So is Stardust a part of the buddy process too?

Ugh. I just made that comment about it being pointless to use my Charmander since I've never even seen one in the wild... I came home and a Charmeleon popped up on my radar. I took off sprinting to go get him, but some random car pulled up to ask me for directions (he was a British guy, and I live in Missouri out in the country...?)

Long story short, they derailed me for so long that the Charmeleon disappeared. There are only two spawn points on my road so I know exactly where he was, too.
