I watched this again after a bit of a break. It actually holds up pretty well.

 

I've never been happier watching any movie

 

finally I was starting to get worried and angry

 

Worried that they wouldn’t make another movie based on one of the biggest franchises ever? I wasn’t worried. But I was angry. Haha

 

WB hasn't exactly been making smart business decisions this past few years haha

 

It’s more creative decisions I have seen to poorly. Which, could be argued is also financial.

But there was no chance they never made another. It’s like imagining them never doing anything with Harry Potter. Even with the drama there, there is too much potential money to be made.

Still crazy to me they never made a new Detective Pikachu game in the last few years to capitalize on this.

 

I liked this a good amount, but I dunno if a sequel to this very specific angle interests me? Kinda wish The Pokémon Company or whoever would approve a different kind of spinoff, lol. Doesn’t even have to be a traditional “young trainer wants to get badges and be a champion” thing.

I mean, shit, what if they did something about a photographer and named it “Pokémon Snap”???

I have never played the Pokemon Ranger games but doesn't that have the kind of plot that might work for a live action adaptation?

 

This movie was actually good so I’m looking forward to more, but I don’t see where Detective Pikachu goes from here.

His dad is back and is no longer in Pikachu’s body.

Perhaps it’s a sequel set in the same world but not going to be about Detective Pikachu?

 

I’m very curious what the story will be as well. Maybe Ryan Reynolds can get pikachu to still talk so it can assist him with other things? I mean he helped with mewtwo so I assume he’s got scientific prowess lol

 

I would hope that they are referring to it as the “detective pikachu” sequel but really it’s opening it up to be more of a traditional Pokémon movie. Same continuity

 

They announced one a while back, but I bet it's in Nintendo's back pocket like Metroid Prime Remastered had been.
