He probably has a good relationship with the city and uses a lot of local crew

ABQ also has more character than a lot of the other choices that are way more played out

Exactly. A lot of filmmakers and showrunners do this. It's like asking why Danny McBride keeps setting and filming his projects in the Carolinas.

You escape Hollywood and build up your own little mini film industry in an area you really like, which in turn helps the local economy there.

  15. the fact that it's set in ABQ is both weirdly inspired and cool because we see it so seldomly.

Also ABQ just feels like the type of place a fantasy novelist would live.

Doesn't GRRM live in New Mexico?

"hello, Carol. we're John Cena" might be one of my favorite TV moments this year

Really enjoyed that. Loved that they made it look like they were reading from a teleprompter during the educational video. No detail overlooked.

So, just a reminder, Carol had her eggs frozen

Got a feeling we are going to get into Malthusian territory where they want to keep Carol herself to occasionally purposely make them upset to reduce population numbers and keep up their food supply.

Definitely clocked that when the sign read, “we won’t take any stem cells from your body.”

    That seems oddly specific.

Ok so, do you think we will see Mr. Paraguay (whose actual name escapes me) again before the end of the season? Just to get him from Paraguay to the Darien Gap will take a week, at which point he’ll have to cross the jungle. There are extremely remote villages that live there, is it possible they will not have been joined?

Would she not have to give permission to join if she has to give permission to get the stem cell? I mean they won't pick an apple off of a tree but they will eat it if it fell off organically. So, they are very specific and deliberate rule followers with their choices.

They didn't get permission to join the rest of the planet, so I would say "no"
