finally watching this, first episode was crazy. was not expecting it to be so... invasion of the body snatchers lol
I feel like the intense horror kinda offset the tone really well in episode 1 but 2 just goes too silly with the other survivors acting like caricatures, it didn’t work for me
my thought is less she's going to force them to do anything or end up destroying anything and more that she will become so much more miserable that she eventually just asks them to assimilate her
I read Gilligan's conception of this show was "what if you had I Dream of Jeannie or Bewitched, but the friendly magical being that can do anything's help is not accepted by the human and is seen as intrusive?"
My guess was the mysterious 12th guy from Paraguay is going to trigger them to seizure continuously to where it disrupts the world, and Carol is going to have to try find a way to stop it from happening.
Episode 3 was good but a show like this will just gnaw at me until I know all the answers. There has to be more to it than Carol biding her time until she gets podded. There will be some activity or question that will break someone free from the hivemind.
early reviewers who watched more of the show all kind of implied it's a slow burn that pays off intermittently
This is such a perfect premise for Gilligan's fantastic ability to deliver choreographed montages of people doing mundane things in a riveting way. I can’t help but think he knew that going in.
amazing casting on the DHL guy, his delivery of "oh sure" had me in stitches think I'd be okay with the pacing picking up a liiiiittle bit though
I don't mind the pace so much as at some point they are going to have to make Carol more dynamic of a character. There are 9 episodes, and if we are going to spend 6 of them with Carol's main character trait being "mad at everything", it'll get tiring. End of this episode showed some softening, though, so I am still interested.
