I'm not enough of a Jeff fan to go to a show of his own when I can go to p4k for a festival set. The only thing I don't buy is that the colors are off in the image from everything else they've produced this year.
According to Inforoo the regular talent booker was replaced 2/3rds of the way through booking which makes sense with the shakeup at Pitchfork if this is the real lineup
Makes me wonder if Caroline Polachek is going to be at Lolla or if she's skipping the festival circuit this year.
That would mean they were let go before the culling considering when these things get booked. But that person is also bullshitting a bit.
Wait Jai Paul is on Friday I missed that lol I love him ever since I discovered him back when the 2023 Coachella lineup dropped
Why would Carly, who sold out the Aragon last year and subheadlined at Lolla, take a sub headlining spot at a smaller festival when just last year a band who sold out a smaller venue headlined? (okay two bands but Thom Yorke is a headliner regardless of what band he is in) That does not make sense to me. Edit: In 2022 Jamie Xx was billed way higher than Carly at Coachella so uhhhh this may be accurate lmao
There's some economics that make sense when you think about it. Easier to book as you don't need to worry about who to book alongside you, stage and other equipment are taken care of, things like that. But what you're seeing in this leak is Conde Nast taking over for sure. Black Pumas, Jai Paul, CRJ - all very much what Conde Nast would get from a focus group as "interesting" headliners. Big Thief actually made little sense as a headliner last year. I skipped it. It was pretty much the same experience as 2021.
I just edited my post but Jamie was billed higher than Carly at Coachella 2022 which I did not know so that makes this a bit more plausible
Saturday has a few artists I'd really like to see (CRJ, Wednesday, Lifeguard), but not sure it's enough for me to go.
Black Pumas headlining pitchfork fest when the website has never reviewed any of their music is objectively hilarious
They reviewed one album in 2019 Black Pumas: Black Pumas Album Review | Pitchfork but not any of their music after that They posted a news announcement of their latest album but never reviewed it Black Pumas Announce New Album Chronicles of a Diamond, Share Song: Listen | Pitchfork
I'd have to seriously consider selling my GA tickets. It's not necessarily enough for me to go every day.
Tbh I kinda love this lineup, like I'm not SHOCKED by any of the headliners but I'm concerned about conflicts already and that feels like a sign that I'll have a pretty good time. That said boo @ no claire rousay
