If you've read the Pitchfork article, I think that's the only statement that's been made regarding this release. They never mentioned anything there about it hitting other music stores or physical releases.
I'm not quite sure how to formulate this complaint, especially because it's something I've done before, but something about that pinegrove IG post where it's all in lower case, with using "u" instead of you. I know they write like this and a ton of people do but it's such a deflective, defensive tone, it strikes me weird. like, here let me use internet speak to make me sound softer. I'm probably not explaining that well, but I get increasingly weirded out when people, specifically grown adults purposefully use internet slang/written etiquette because it almost feels like the point is that if you write things like that people can criticize you less because it's "less serious".
Great Song. Great Album, it's a grower for sure. Also i think that they will be able to still have special moments in their shows. I think a lot of the discussions around the incident are happening in forum's and social media but the average listener probably isn't even aware of what happened.
I know what you mean and I haven't seen the post buuuuuuut I agree on principle. I run several social media accounts that aren't mine, and the ONLY real reason I've ever seen to switch to that kind of tone is to imply youthfulness or deflect seriousness. That's the effect it has, at any rate.
it’s definitely something that gives your words a much more “innocent” tone if that makes sense. wouldn’t outright say they did it intentionally (always possible though) but subconsciously yeah very likely
Could very well be true. Never followed them on social media. I actually follow surprisingly few bands on social media, even the ones that I love and have no reservations about - not entirely sure why that is, but here we are. I was just saying a SWITCH to that kind of writing only has one purpose, not that that's what happened with this particular post. Even so, I could see how it might rub someone wrong given everything. Sometimes if subject matter is serious it pays to drop the shtick... context is king.
Completely true, was not meant to be sent to you. I thought I deleted that and was just showing you the post. Unnecessary regardless.
I’ve never been able to articulate this quite right, but I feel the same way. Abbreviating words and elimitating punctuation definitely adds a certain “goofball” character to text, and I’m 100% guilty of doing all of that myself in many cases — but on the internet where basically everything relies on context, there are undoubtedly situations where people should just know to type formally.
All their posts are like that and they're certainly not the only guys who do this, but like... you release this super long, verbose statement, you feature in this well written article and when it's you're turn to speak you're like "yes! excite to share music w u!!" like....
I mean there’s really nothing wrong like typing like that if you want to normally, it’s just...yeah in this case definitely not how I’d be articulating myself
v sorry to have hurt whomstever i hurt :(( also, what Jake said. I almost always type in lower case and don't make an effort to be too articulate.
Lots of reasons I could think of. Didn't notice it? Decided to let it go that time? Just for fun? Honestly, it doesn't matter why now. That's a straw man (one I'm admittedly sensitive to given what's happening with SCOTUS right now) and is ultimately irrelevant.
Okay no ones saying this is a huge deal that proves he’s guilty or evil or anything near that level of seriousness. it was just pointed out as a pet peeve with some valid reasoning behind it. Must y’all push back against everything?
To be honest I really don't care about this enough to argue. it's a thing a lot of bands/people on the internet do and it's weird in this situation but ultimately it's such a minor part of everything that it don't matter
I have no bone in this fight, but really? Really? You know exactly what he meant and, more importantly, what triggered means nowadays. And then you have a balls to call out someones straw man. Impressive. This thread's a shit show.
