But maybe the victim would be okay with him saying stuff even if it is as bad as we are currently led to believe? Like the victim can be past it and still be okay with other people not being over it. Those things don't have to be mutually exclusive.
If you feel singled out then what was I earlier this week when this entire thread told me I was wrong for having a position that is now getting confirmed by more and more people. Chill.
Oh okay, I guess we're repeating ourselves tenfold at this point. A lot of people seem to be getting upset.
No i mean, ive been okay with a situation but have had friends still say stuff about it and I say thats fine.
I don’t care if people hate PG forever. What I do care about is anyone trying to make this into a black and white issue when it so obviously isn’t. It’s so fucking insulting to be made to feel like I/we are stupid abuse apologists for not being privy to the same info as everyone and not being 100% sold on the testimony of people who can’t seem to say more than “I know something you don’t”
Oh my bad, long day. Logically, that seems like the most likely situation unless the it really was more severe and/or their are more victims.
there is at least one more survivor of hall's manipulation, as I've said earlier in this thread. But I think what people are mostly pissed off about is not the nature of the abuse itself, it's the band and hall not respecting the survivor's wishes Maybe also the survivor approved them returning but the way they did so was unsavoury and may have showed the survivor and their entourage that the mediated communication failed to reveal hall's true state, and that they discovered it through reading the kind of discourse he is having in that piece, which clearly reads like he doesn't really believe he actually inflicted harm
Yea I mean Jac is taking a very cynical view, maybe that is Evan’s intent. But we can’t possibly know that and that cynical view certainly isn’t a good look
I don't get the sense he doesn't believe he inflicted harm. I think he believes that from his perspective he didn't see it that way but now looking back at it and changing the perspective he understands that what his victim went through was real and that he needed to change the way he sees everything.
Oh, sorry a lot of comments flying by. I thought the other survivor turned out to not actually be true, which I think was mentioned in the article? Or a different article? Or is there another alleged not in regard to that one. Yeah, I think that could very well be the scenario as well, she ended up not liking how it was covered and was okay with people speaking their minds about it.
Everyone was talking about Autumn Lavis, yes, who has made it clear they did not consider themselves a victim or survivor, but I'm talking about someone else.
Yes, granted, but the language he is using deresponsibilises him. Instead of saying "I hurt this person", he goes and says "I did things that made this person feel hurt", basically, and that shifts the blame. It's typical. This might be a failure on therapy's part, because I've seen cases of therapists who, when dealing with abusers, end up shifting the guilt away from them because the account they get is biased, and they're trained to help their patients feel at peace with themselves, but can't make them reckon with the actual situation.
As much as I'd love 20 more pages of drama and getting onto people based on what you THINK may have happened about something we clearly at this point are just throwing darts at.....I'm gonna take a moment to discuss the album in the album thread. Darkness is such a great song. Love the beat and energy. Skylight is pretty great. I feel like there are some true snoozers though. Not really feeling the high highs like there was in Cardinal. Rings and Easy enough are growing on me.
if the conclusion you're coming at after reading this is that it's "drama" and "throwing darts" I can tell there's a problem with the way you understand the situation
the two conversations can take place at the same time. talk about the music if you want but don’t get pissed because people are working through their feelings on all of this. they really should have let the dust settle on the p4k article a bit before they dropped the album
This album is pretty underwhelming for me. Lyrics are meh, nothing outstanding. Musically, pretty straight forward sounding and expected from them. The songs themselves feel boring....I kept checking the tracklist to see how far I had until it was done. I thought Cardinals was pretty great, but I was never a super-fan of the band or something. This is a definite step-down from Cardinals, imo. Nothing has grabbed me at all on it, it all just blends together. It's all incredibly malaise and mundane feeling I really doubt I'll come back to this album at all. Pretty disappointing for myself, but I cant complain, we have so much other good music this year.
I literally don’t have a problem with people talking about the music. But posts that take the time to be condescending and say “I wish we could ignore all this drama and talk about the music, this is a music forum!!!” should be a bannable offense.
I said I was going to talk about the music. I didn't say other people couldn't continue to discuss the issues. The infighting between everyone in the thread is drama. I'm not talking about the incident between Evan and the victim.
I like the album a lot, but I’m sure it’ll take some time to grow on me. It doesn’t seem varied right now. It all kind of goes at the same space, and doesn’t have many aggressive moments. It’s also a new experience because I’ve heard all these songs before, so it was just like hearing a final version of all of them.
