glad they're taking more time, shows me he's taking it seriously. hopefully by the time/if they come back people will be able to extend a grain of compassion their way
Yeah I mean it shouldn't be deleted, for that reason, but all there is to go on right now is a very bad self-serving, narrative control-stealing statement and a tour cancellation so I don't know what else there is to say unless and until the victim is ready to share what actually happened.
i don't think it's worth even thinking about that until seeing how they respond and what work was put into it involving the victim's wishes. still an infinite range of things that could happen
Half Waif Says Pinegrove’s New Album Skylight Is Still Coming Out, Band Is Already Working On The Next One this is going to be interesting...
Hmm. I feel Nandi would not stay involved if she didn’t feel Evan was making true progress. Hope this is handled correctly
“I absolutely see myself continuing to be a collaborator as far as recording. Singing with Evan was how I got brought into the band, and eventually … how this project got started. I will always jump at the opportunity to sing with him and play with musicians who have now become my family.”
Honestly I don't think that's the worst thing in the world on a few conditions. Release it for free or give every last cent made to RAINN. Don't tour until he's rehabilitated. Otherwise if he wants to make music go for it. A creative outlet can be good for people working through their issues so long as it's not used to hurt others, be it through touring and preying on fans or using your status to manipulate people. The simple act of making music doesn't strike me as alarming on its own.
the fact that she's saying she'd rush to support him and would always play with him? that seems like something not to be said about an abuser
Do you think completely cutting off someone you know who has done wrong is always the answer? Personally I think if someone wants to support a friend who has done wrong and help them get better that's totally fine so long as they aren't enabling them. If everyone abandons someone they're never going to get better imo
I don’t disagree that abandoning someone won’t make them better, but Evan’s entire statement was an attempt to gaslight his victim and misconstrue her abuse, so I’m not ready to be like “Yeah he should put out new music and make money on his personality”
i don't have any problem with nandi continuing to support evan but coming out with these very positive statements focusing on how lovely he is and how she'd always want to make music with him? saying that publicly in this situation is absolutely a bad look
I've become jaded about labels doing the right thing since the whole pure noise thing. Really sucks because I used to like RFC but they've handled the pinegrive thing terribly
RFC hasn't ever really handled this sort of thing "well". whirr was horrible even before those statements. the turnover thing was iffy. they still support a dude that internet bullies regularly.
Yeah I was confused why it was even talked about anyway. Like it was weird when the NYT asked Chris Carrabarra about Jesse Lacey. Comes across as gotcha journalism
