it doesn't lessen the impact it had on evans victim just because someone else did something worse. considering how everyone was all about boycotting turnover before they kicked that guy out I'm honestly just confused as to why pinegrove are getting a pass if were trying to equate shitty band dude behaviour.
Don't equate shitty band dude behavior. Each instance should be judged on its own merits. I don't care what everyone was about for some other band and your shitty strawmanning doesn't make your statement any less absurd
pinegrove shouldn’t be getting a pass until we hear the next statement from them. people need to chill and wait because this isn’t it
you're literally the one who compared jesse and evans behaviour ??? i brought brand new up in context of them being outed after their tours were booked. clearly not on the same page though so lets just move on.
You compared it directly by making the weird tour comparison lol how could you possibly try to turn this on me
People on this website are really good at taking personal, individual, direct offense at differences in opinion about vague situations that they aren’t in any way connected to or involved in...
People are getting some weird ideas about who we should apportion blame to in this situation. Evan is the only person we can categorically say has done something wrong and even that is nebulous. This will only get messier if we can't keep perspective.
The fact that we don't at all know the severity of what Evan did makes it very hard to navigate questions like "is redemption possible, and when" or "should an upcoming artist drop the opportunity and obligation to go through with a tour that was booked months before this came to light". Most likely he's not a monster, but that's just giving him the benefit of the doubt. I haven't listened to the band since the news broke and I don't plan on supporting them in any way in the near future, but I won't judge anyone who does. Anyway, just kind of weird to be jumping down anyone's throats for their attempts to make sense of these questions, on either side
just meant that she shouldn't be resolved of accountability just because the tour was booked before anything came to light. martha had no problem dropping out the brand new shows which i why i made the comparison, but can see how that could have been unclear. not here to argue, just get mad at men who suck because more often than not they don't face consequences for their actions.
What accountability should she have? Should she be on trial? Did you ever think for a a second about the victim or are you too busy focusing on your own anger?
Ok I'm out of this thread, someone let me know when something new happens and/or we stop just going in circles.
i honestly tried to end my side of the argument haha. i am also out, we are on different pages and we shall leave it at that and see how this pans out when pgrove make a statement soon.
Yeah, but you have the specifics that prove he is completely irredeemable and the therapy he's in right now isn't going to work, right?
ok for real my last post. happy that he's trying to better himself now but imo he's lost the right to having the platform he previously had.
You get to make that decision for him, the band, and the victim? What if that's not what the victim wants?
Haha no that's why i said it. Like everyone seemed to make peace, and then someone else came in and attacked you. You are arguing for the right thing in the end. You shouldn't be attacked for your stance on this. I apologize if it ever came across that way from me. The vagueness of all this is part of what is creating such a divide, so like @cwhit and others have said, it's really best to just wait until we have more information before we continue to discuss.
I mean they literally said "imo". If someone says that it usually means exactly the opposite of what you are trying to accuse them of.
i don't disagree with that but trying to vilify phoebe is definitely wrong i'm done with the band but we'll see what happens when they make statements. i want to see what the victim/their support has to say
these are human beings involved in all this. if phoebe or the rest of the band don't have a response that lines up with your expectations are they too inrredemable? maybe not in this thread but I've seen on twitter so many takes that just seem out for blood and ready to ruin everyone over stuff we don't know many details about. attacking women close to the situation is counterproductive, especially given how little we know
Glassjaw cancelled their Australian tour like two days before the first date with no reason cited (allegedly ticket sales issues but idk) so anything is possible. Don’t believe the shows are going ahead until they actually happen. As for Phoebe Bridgers, how about we just wait and see what she has to say if anything before tearing her down and trying to cancel her. Jesus.
