Them touring wouldn't be the end of the world though. I'm ridiculously confused about reactions I'm seeing

Yeah they would have been cancelled if there was an intention of cancelling them

 

or maybe they are waiting as long as they can to get some clarification on the situation and how it relates to Evan and his recovery?

 

What would recovery entail exactly in this instance

I'm literally asking though, what would deem him "recovered" from the behaviour he exhibited? You used the term first, surely you had something in mind

 

I said recovery. Therapy, plan in the community, lots of parts of it. I will not know anything more until I see what he and people close to the victim know

 

I only know about this stuff in terms of addiction, being a recovering addict myself, but there's no set finish line for being recovered

 

recovery is a process as opposed to a final point. trajectory and growth matter

holy shit this whole thread I have been saying it doesn’t need to be more clear than it is because this does not involve you! let the people close to the situation guide it as opposed to us who know nothing!!!

 

Not really sure what to make of the people I'm seeing on Twitter going after Phoebe for still touring with them -- assuming the tour still happens.

 

Also I think every thread that has had topics on this stuff has addressed what accountability and recovery might look like in these situations. There is obviously a huge variety of factors and no one-size-fits-all answer. Nobody in this thread has the answer and it's weird to get seemingly mad that no one is giving you an exact answer here. At the end of the day you're going to have to listen to what Evan says, what the people you trust say, and what your own gut tells you.

 

I hate that kind of thing. I mean she's just starting to make a name for herself and build momentum. Not every touring musician is in a place where they can just throw away a huge opportunity like this. It clearly hurt Adult Mom when the US tour got cancelled.

honestly the attitude in this thread is weird as hell. phoebe deserves to be called out for touring with an abuser.

 

It's almost like this is a vague situation to begin with so to get mad at perceived vagueness on the part of people who don't know anything more than what's out there is dumb. Just chill and wait it out

 

the tour was booked before Evan was outed? and someone even working with the victim has said Evan isn’t irredeemable? stop taking it out on women who aren’t defending abusers so they don’t continue to become collateral damage from shitty dudes, we don’t know anything that is happening and managers/booking agents plan most of this anyways

 

ok noted, its fine to tour with/promote shitty people as long as it furthers your own music career. shit, should the brand new tour have gone ahead cos that was booked before JL was outed too?
