It's easy for me. I support victims. I support members of responsible bands. I don't support abusers who take advantage of their fans - underage or otherwise. Idk that's not that debatable for me but what do I know.
It’s up to the individual. Nothing wrong with listening to the band but nothing wrong with taking a stand and boycotting the band, So yea don’t make peole feel bad either way
I just want facts. Not psychoanalysis of a Facebook post or a tweet. But I understand people will make their own decisions, follow their own emotions, biases/beliefs, and make their own conclusions.
I should add I'm not saying necessarily to never listen to these bands music again. I'm not rushing out to sell my Pinegrove record, since I already own it either way. I'm not sure what I will do with this down the road. I'm more talking about continued support going forward. I didn't mean for this post to be hostile towards people who don't want to completely cut ties with the music. Idk I'm rambling. Im not perfect either - I'm trying to learn as we go on all this.
It's still hard to know how to handle this with no firsthand accounts other than Evan's statement. I know the vicim(s) don't owe us anything though.
This is how I feel right now. I definitely don't want to just forgive him for being a shitty person, but it's hard to be mad about something when I don't really know what happened and no one but him has spoken on it. But I also know that it seemed behind the scenes there was more to it, and if they make a quick return it kind of speaks volumes that he wasn't really trying to improve himself as much as salvage his reputation.
Really want to know what's happening with the Europe tour/if Phoebe is still supporting. Because I'll just go for her set, buy her merch and leave after if they are still going ahead somehow.
...assuming someone is a "shitty person." ...assuming Evan has done nothing to better himself and only cares about his reputation. Holy lord that's incredibly judgmental.
Just working with the statement he gave me where he admitted to being shitty. And I'm just saying it takes a little longer than 2 months to make the kinds of improvements he said he wanted to make. Then again, maybe I'm wrong on that. Idk it's not really up to me so I'll wait and see what gets addressed. Hopefully he makes everything right.
i'm mostly just confused about the people trying to justify evan's actions when he straight up said he did something and he's going to get treatment for it. like, he told you, isn't that enough? he wouldn't want you to justify it
Yeah, no one should be excusing Evan for what he did. We all found out about it because he came forward about the bad shit he did.
People are selfish and lack empathy and will bend over backwards to justify so much of their identities being wrapped up in strangers
