I miss The Tower and the Fool

 

The middle section of that song rocks so hard in the live video I'm gonna bicycle kick a toddler to it

 

Personally, I don’t think the production does a disservice to the songs. Particularly in this song’s case, I think it breathes a certain life into it that evokes a specific emotion out of me that’s very different than the emotion they evoke live. I value that a lot, and it makes each incarnation of the song special to me. The main takeaway of my post shouldn’t be “oh, the band clearly intended this so you have to like it this way!!” Have whatever opinion you’d like, I don’t blame you one way or the other. I meant it more as an observation and a statement of personal preference.

 

Big Thief, Whitney, Julien Baker, etc

 

The vocals are really my only issue and the mix (especially Nandi's) in their own live album (Elsewhere) sounds so much better to me. They seem to both get buried in the middle of Intrepid. But, like I said, still a dope song and I imagine will be incredible to hear when I see them in a few weeks.

 

I think what we all really want is for Jack Antonoff to work his magic on Pinegrove.

In all honesty? I’d be curious to hear this band paired with Chris Walla, then again I’d be curious to hear nearly any band/artist paired with him. I’m more excited about the new Foxing album than I’d probably be otherwise bc of it.

 

Yeah that’s really the only fault. Which is fine. I just want good things for the band.

 

Looks like they are doing something. They updated their Facebook page very recently.

 

Dream tour hitting London. So excited.

Thank you! I put a ton of time into that post and I was hoping it would generate more discussion on reddit, but, as you noted, it's kind of dead over there. I'd love to start speculating on the album based on the live performances, what we've seen and heard so far, etc.

 

I said this over in the Cardinal album thread but seems like there's more discussion here so I'm going to repost... I'm not entirely sure that this new song will be included on the album. The email announcing it says "from a recent batch of songs the band has recorded". Doesn't seem like a commitment to it being included on the album, but maybe I'm reading into it too much.

 

I thought the same thing, but maybe it's just to keep a wrap on album details. If they said it was included on the album then that would sort of be a roundabout way of announcing the LP.

 

Yeah, that wording from RFC is working too hard if it's a song from the album.
