This is out today!

 

excited to hear the new one, but also wanted to say that all fiction is their best album and is such a wonderful, beguiling, mind-turning experience. if you are having trouble getting excited about this year's rock music... listen to it

 

I still dunno how I feel about this album after sitting with it all year. At first I didn't care for it at all but I've been coming around to it. I guess as a long time Pile fan it took me some time to get used to this record not being one I can throw on and enjoy while doing stuff around the house or whatever. It definitely requires attentive listening and a certain mood.

Blood is a deeply moving song and Rick's guitar work on there blows my mind. Poisons is another standout for me that feels monstrous when it kicks off the closing stretch of the album. The drumming is incredible. Kris Kuss has a super cool name and is one of the best rock drummers going right now for my money.

I don't see myself coming back to this one as frequently as the old stuff but I can appreciate it for what it is. I think it's much more well done than Green and Gray which I have only listened through completely a handful of times.

 

Got to play with and hang with these guys this week. Super cool people, incredible musicians. Rick’s vocal capabilities are on another level and Kris is one of the most exciting drummers I’ve ever watched.
