Scowering the internet for this negative feedback but all I see is praise

 

the review on something called SputnikMusic.com gave it like a 2.5/5 and called it monotonous and boring.

“Abandoning their screamo roots was a mistake. Going into their last record Keep You, Pianos Become The Teeth dropped the screaming vocals, the distortion, and the passion in their music. Their new brand of dynamic-free and biteless indie rock didn’t work on Keep You, and it still doesn’t work on Wait For Love, the only difference is the drummer has learned how to stay afloat in a sea of mediocrity. Kyle Durfey is still incapable of melodic singing, still founders around the same one octave, never alternating in volume, cadence, or pitch - he’s still an emotionless husk of his former self. It’s completely disheartening, thinking about how his passionate screaming on "I’ll Get By" still makes me cry every time, yet every time I listen to their two newest records I’m struggling to stay awake. I don’t know where this band can go from here, and if I could give the drummer a piece of advice, I’d tell him to join a better band.”

im all about album closers about (or at least, touch upon) fatherhood. first ABMTTS' The Silence and now, Blue.

Listening again, the guitars remind me a little of The Republic Of Wolves.

My friends in the real world who like this band/love Keep You do not like this album at all. Weird. I like it but I would place it above only Old Pride right now

 

Apparently Ronald McDonald( theneedledrop) thought it was unoriginal indie rock with a hint of emo.

That was probably the first time I got upset after viewing/ reading a negative review of an album I love.

 

Why do people have to keep bringing him up?

 

Will be interested to see if some of these people come around in time to come. Or if it falls off for some of us.

 

Watching all 3 videos in a row was fuckin cool

 

Jesus.. I mean idk. If they never had been a hardcore band a review like this wouldn’t exist.

 

You could say this about literally any album ever

The intro to Bloody Sweet reminds me a little bit of Thrice.

 

True but I’m more interested personally for this one I guess bc in my mind right now I think it’s perfect. But I was stating the obvious here. I do better in the chat threads lol

Music doesn't exist in a vacuum. The history of a bands sound informs how they are precepted and received by audiences familiar with them. That's just how it works and always will work. Bands with storied histories aren't afforded the blank slate of a debut album and never will be

 

LOL the person who literally disproves the one one octave criticism on that sputnik review by showing that Kyle sings in 3 different octaves in the first song is my new fucking hero

 

My local store has the black with gold splatter LP and I'm really tempted to pick it up but I have the clear w/ gold and black splatter coming. Although if they're getting repressed now god knows when it'll come. Do I really want both?
