I think the transition from all/mostly screaming to basically none was their "go for it" moment, and it worked out fantastically. This is going to be building on the blocks of Keep You if I had to guess.

I agree Keep You is golden, of course

 

Im excited for it and I would love a brighter sound.. that song dancing is one of my favorite.

While it doesn't bother me, Its interesting that a lot of bands follow the trajectory of putting out a really dark album followed by something happier and less heavy. I think a lot of that may have to do with the fact that no band wants to put out the same album twice.

 

I think Valentine's Day also has something to do with it.

 

Keep You was the lighter album, The Lack Long After was literally about his dad dying. Keep You felt like the record about trying to learn how to deal with it. TLLA is the more emotionally draining album to me.

 

i think a brighter vibe would be satisfying especially when looking back over the trajectory of old pride through keep you. i think seeing kyle's writing reach a place of peace and contentment would be lovely.

yep. Im cool with a lighter vibe, as long as it stays interesting musically. based on that live video i think the bridge of this new song is going to be incredible.

 

have a hrd time seeing people around here love anything more than they love keep you. i'll always be a TLLA guy myself, but i'm interested to see what this is like.

 

I honestly don't have a preference as to what mood it has. I'm just glad we a re getting a new album in 4 months.

The idea that this could top Keep You is so wild to me. But I thought that about Home before Goodness came out too and, based on pure speculation, this seems to be a similar transition.

Will Yip also said it was their best but he says that about everything.

On one hand, I agree, but I also cant think of a time where hes said it and has been wrong

 

That's... actually true. Recently, the argument can definitely be made for Code Orange, Menzingers, Turnover, CItizen, and even Circa Survive. He did say it about Circa's Descensus too though, and I disagree with that for sure.

 

Yeah I love being destroyed by a Pianos cd so I'm still rooting for another dark album. My only concern with a "brighter" vibe is that he knows how to write dark material based on his past experiences and I love the intimate style of his lyrics. With a brighter vibe I just worry that the intimacy goes away.

I can barely ever listen to TLLA because of how draining and emotionally devastating it is to me. It's a beautiful record but incredibly hard to stomach unless I'm in just the right mood. Keep You is a lot more accessible for me.

 

While we're waiting to hear this song... favorite lyrical passage in Keep You? I think mine is April:
