This is killing me. I am just not feeling these songs at all. I feel like something is wrong with me haha
just wait till you hear the entire record in context - this isn't a singles record per se but really an album that works best from start to finish.
That makes me even more excited! ;d ;d so was the case with Keep You for me, just perfection all in all!
I can't stop listening to Buckley. Best of the 3 so far... Maybe my favorite song from them since Keep You.
Woke up this morning w/ skiv stuck in my head and thought the album came out tomorrow...nope. Stoked to listen to this album when it's finally out.
This week! Also, Mike is on this week's episode of the BrooklynVegan podcast. Did we already know they had written an entire album and scrapped it before writing and recording Drift? The dark, weird rebirth of Pianos Become the Teeth
Okay, not just me then and something I missed: [T]hey found themselves at a crossroads in their career; they'd written a followup album to Wait For Love, but scrapped the entire thing because they didn't feel it was up to par with where they should be as a band. It left the band wondering "What do we do? We wrote a whole record and this doesn't even really feel right. Is this kind of like, the end of this?," guitarist Mike York told us. But then the pandemic hit, the band had time to reassess, and they started again from scratch. "Writing a whole record and then scrapping it was kind of the rebirth of being like, 'You know what? We just need to do a no holds barred, like, everybody's ideas just need to come to light. Every weird idea, every weird thing somebody wants to try, we really just need to make this be as cool and as big as it can be.'"
that’s interesting as fuck, based on the singles I can tell they really wanted to try some new shit I bet the scrapped album was just wait for love/keep you pt 2
I re-visited the singles this weekend for the first time since "Buckley" dropped and am really excited for this album. Feel like it's definitely going to be one of my go-to's this fall.
I’ve been studying the lyrics to Buckley and they are really something special. Wry unnerving and raw in regards to the subject matter. “Funny I don’t have to leave, for you to miss me” is such a great line.
Revisited all three singles the other day and I’m very hyped. Especially to finally hear the song that Genevieve plays into. It sounds really cool at the end of that song
I really hope I “get” the album more in full. I’ve listened to the singles a handful of times and it just isn’t really clicking for me. Optimistic as Keep You is a top 10 album for me and TLLA is a favorite, as well - I like WFL for what it is. Just hoping this one clicks more in full with a few listens, moreso come fall/winter
"Easy" is fucking gorgeous, and "The Days" goes hard. The best run is tracks 3-5. If you didn't like the singles, not sure if you'll like this album and it definitely feels like a grower album.
