I could not agree with this post more. "Pair" is such a perfect closer, literally the only thing I would change about it would be to make it longer, but I respect what they chose to do with it. When you're in the right mood for it, Drift is a damn near perfect album.
I'm a Yip lover most days hahh, but Drift sounds perfect. Especially on headphones, it's really well-produced to get that certain sound, I agree it feels a bit more intimate
Love they have done this and hope they do it for all of their albums - and please put it on Bandcamp or some other place I can download in high quality!
Show on 18th, ive listened to keep you hundreds of times over the years & unfortunatly my father died in june, i really cant wait going to fuck me up some lol love this band
Yeah my dad passed away two Xmas’ ago and I’ve purposely not listened to KY since. Sooooo my show should be emotional
Gonna be in NYC for work next week. Gonna try and catch them in Brooklyn if I can sneak away from a work dinner.
Sending strength to you both. Shows like this are big steps in the grieving process and I hope they bring you some comfort like they have done to me since losing my Mum back in February. You won't be alone there that's for sure
Saw them last night in Queens. Holy god they sounded great. Everything off keep you holds up 10 years later.
Yeah, unless I'm forgetting a tour poster, they were just handing out leftover Drift posters if you gave the merch guy a tip. Everything else was solid. I bought a t-shirt and the two options were good enough that I would've been happy with either one. Those two designs were also on a few other things (tote bag, sweatshirt(?)), and then there was also a bunch of vinyl available.
Does anyone know who’s opening? I think it’s bands Stay Inside and Frail Body? Can’t find confirmation and my show says it starts at 8p so I hope there aren’t two openers lol
Really wish I could’ve gone last night. I saw some videos a friend posted and I’m so fucking bummed. Only time I’ve seen them in general was their Wait for Love release show in Philly at a tiny dive bar venue. The sound was pretty shit in there, but I had a great time. I think they completely re-did that venue and changed the name a couple years, so maybe it’s better now. I’m pretty sure Caracara opened that show before I knew them, but I missed them because of my friend being late anyway. Another cool thing about that show is that I finally got to meet Will Yip when he was hanging around the bar area before they played. I’ve seen him plenty of times before and after, but that was the only time I actually got to talk to him for a few seconds. Also think I saw ap.net’s Thomas hanging around at that show. Dude was tall af.
