Been listening to this recently to see if it’s finally going to hit. But no, I still just can’t get into it. I think it’s better than I thought at release but I just don’t really like it unfortunately. Oh well hoping the next one is killer.
For me it will end up somewhere in my top 3 whenever I sit down to think and compile a list of favorites. Even by looking at the numbers, I think Genevieve is not actually my fav song, but I've played it the most times, seeing as it was the single. Though I haven't seen it on lots of lists yet, but I'm keeping most of the "official" ones to have something to check out after christmas. EDIT: oh no, it wasn't that single, but yet another one anyway. I think it was second to come out? Then I opted for waiting till the album release. I just copied it from my last fm. This looks a bit different from my Spotify wrapped with fav songs as well hmm 1. Dig Up The Dead by Mansions 63 times 2. New Music by Another Michael 56 3. Skiv by PBTT 56 4. Hyacinth by Caracara 53 5. The Recluse by Cursive 53
I have literally only just discovered this was released. I’ll go back to this but the lack of hearing about this doesn’t exactly have me hopeful.
It's a great album. I imagine the lack of chatter about it has something to do with there being over four years between in and WFL, as well as a pandemic during the writing/recording/release of it. When I saw them on their first headlining tour in support of Drift, there was barely anyone there.
Hiding was on repeat on long night drives from college to my parent's house. That track takes me back to some chaotic times. Love it so much.
Hope you can like it, it's easily in my top 2022 releases and I did hear about it a lot. As well as the fact that it's a re-do after scrapping a whole record worth of material
idk if anyone missed this but they just launched a new merch store with some awesome new items: https://www.coldcutsmerch.com/collections/pianos-become-the-teeth
Revisited this on a walk this morning and still absolutely love it. I started tearing up during "Pair". This part especially hits hard: Joy and despair, they come as a pair here In this place of lost thank you's In the way the pain shakes you in its waves As they take it from your womb There's grace in waiting for life When your frame can't contain Lou, this trying has been trying And I'll carry you when either you carry Or you don't
I finally got my vinyl, so I'm excited to really sit down with the album again and go through all the lyrics, just need some time during the weekend I guess
The band are doing a really cool walk-through of each song on drift (one a day) on Instagram talking about the writing process for each song.
Revisiting this today. Just hit The Days and was totally bored until this one came on. Really a bummer, I consider Keep You one of my favorite albums of all time.
Drift hits home (specifically "Pair"), since it was so hard for us to have a second kid and the undertones about pregnancy complications and having kids hit a soft spot with me. That said, Keep You is a record that I adore from front to back.
put on Keep You today since it's a rainy and dreary day and it's the 10 year anniversary. Still as good today as ever. I think this is Yip's triumph as well.
