This album is magic. Restrained is the word that comes to mind. I didn’t love the opener but starting to “get it” pair as a closer is special. out of the 3 singles, I liked Buckley the most. Now on album, might be my least fav track.
on 5th listen and i’m finally starting to like this album. it always takes me a handful of listens with this band but it’s always worth the patience
Been listening to this album on morning walks in the dark since I’m on vacation and not used to the time change yet, and it just gets even better with every listen. So good.
I think this definitely comes in pretty well below Keep You and Wait for Love for me, but I do enjoy it a good amount. I've gotta pick up my copy from my local record store today.
this is fucking great, pretty much immediately evident to me that it’s their best work. Keep You will always have a special place in my heart but I think this feels like the band fully realizing their potential
I can’t get enough of this album. I’ve been listening to it almost every day since it came out. My love for it has only grown. This might be my favorite album from them but it’s a little too soon to tell. I still need to dig into the lyrics
The flow of the album is just so good. The order is perfect and I love the transitions between a lot of the songs
I haven't listened to it for maybe a week but threw it on last night. It is for sure best listened to as a whole rather than in pieces
I love this album. I just keep enjoying and appreciating it more and more with each listen. It really is mesmerizing and I love how short it is too. A wonderful album from start to finish.
got my record today :,) I was a little annoyed that rough trade sent the black instead of the red but it sounds really good so i'm over it lol. still aoty contender i think
Finally hit this for the first time last night. Had been holding off until my vinyl preorder arrived. As usual, it makes more sense taken in as a whole, as the singles didn't do anything for me before release. One listen in, and I didn't immediately like it as much as Keep You and Wait for Live on my first listens, but that doesn't mean it won't grow. I think listening to this with the lights on to read along with the lyrics was the wrong choice, too. This album is begging for a listen in the dark, possibly on a late-night walk. That will be next listen.
Definitely agree with the last sentence here, the first time around I listened on headphones in the dark of the night and the sequencing itself made me feel like diving at times, the production, the bass tones, that's what sticks out for me. I got back to the lyrics a bit later, the first spin made some of them click immediately anyway.
