6 songs in my first listen and I mostly dig it. Obviously its much more of a slow mood then their previous albums but I don't mind it. Read the sput review/comments and that appears to be a minority thought.
I love this. Their sound is so unique and I love this evolution of them. I love all of the production and weird little effects that add atmosphere. I listened to it while flying back from my grandpa’s funeral today and the brooding sound fit the situation just right. It ends so well
This album hit perfectly played loud while driving at night with the windows down after the MCR show on Friday.
Anyone know what this album is about? After reading the lyrics, my interpretation is that a lot of it is about trying to conceive/ maybe losing a baby? Has Kyle said anything about the album?
I've listened to this probably 5 times as background noise over the weekend while I did chores, but took this for a walk this evening and may or may not have cried during the closer. Lyrics are so dope.
I wouldn't say it's growing on me yet but I'm not getting bored of it and I keep noticing little things with each new listen
i havent seen him say anything but i pick up on that, more generally i see the cycle of new life and death and the love and lost love in between which makes up the essence of life.
I think there were some songs on WFL that pointed back to an ectopic pregnancy that was lost? Don't really love speculating on something like that though, but I think that might've been an interview or track by track analysis that came out around that time.
"But I'm writing down everything you say for my dementia days" This line (and The Days, in general) gets me every time. Whatever the subject matter is on the album from Kyle's POV, there are a lot of lines that hit close-to-home for me.
Review / interview: Pianos Become The Teeth: "This record, it's so raw" Finding themselves in the centre of a musical world of their own making, Pianos Become The Teeth's new album 'Drift' is nothing short of remarkable.
Finally got to listen through the whole thing on headphones today (granted while working). This is very much my shit. I love the repetition, the little auditory experiments throughout, and the overall vibe everyone is mentioning. I love WFL but it had to grow on me a bit while; this was a much more successful first listen. Stoked to spend time listening to this without distractions. Have a feeling this will be on my end of year list.
Seems lots of my friends don't like it as much - could it be they just don't get it?! (jk of course). I'm still on it though.
Seeing them next week, interested to see how these songs will be live! I imagine will sounds pretty cool.
