You guys summed up my thoughts pretty well already. Definitely like it every time I listen but only a few of the tracks are really memorable. The last 2 records, Wolfgang in particular, were solid from start to finish.
Wow, I'm actually surprised at how poorly it did. Here's the breakdown of new releases in order on the Billboard 200 1. katy 2. sza 3. lady antebellum 4. rise against 5. lindsey buckingham / christine mcvie 6. hillsong united 7. rancid 8. now thats what i call country 10 9. govn't mule 10. glen campbell 11. phoenix 12. dear evan hansen 13. chuck berry 14. anastasia broadway musical cast recording 15. ajr 16. sufjan, nico, bryce, james 17. avriel & the sequoias 18. london grammar 19. the birthday massacre 20. the secret sisters 21. jessie james decker 22. ani defranco
It only sold a little over 9k. Not sure how much when streaming gets factored in but I can't imagine it's significantly higher.
9k sounds rough. Guess it's not entirely surprising without a huge single. That said, I think there's some really good tracks on here.
Bankrupt didnt have a huge single and that still sold like 65k first week, debuting at #4. Then again that may have been cuz they were riding the wave of popularity from Wolfgang. Still weird that a band that just played the 18k seated Hollywood Bowl and headlined a few large festivals this year didnt even debut in the top 40 this week.
Phoenix and The Killers have been riding the same festival billing wave for years. Main difference is that The Killers blew up with their debut and Phoenix blew up in the middle of their career. Both are gonna command headline or near-headline slots until the end of time regardless of sales I think.
Fior di Latte is one of their all-time best songs imo rest is p solid but I also haven't listened to it that much
I listen to j-boy a lot, one of my favorite songs of the summer, and the song after it is solid. Usually change albums after that.
I don't come back to this as a full album play, but when the songs pop up on the shuffle they're enjoyable. Great summertime listening.
Something tells me these guys don't really have to care about record sales anymore anyways What a groovy bassline in "Ti Amo"
What a weird video for a funky song like Ti Amo. Here are some 70's vaginas and the band looking extremely bored
