Super interesting album, way more French than I would ever expect, but I don't think that's a bad thing. On first listen I found it mostly enjoyable, but not quite memorable... curious how this will sit after multiple listens
Agree with everything you said. It doesn't have a big hit on it, I love J Boy, but I don't think that was as catchy as singles from previous albums. Still, it seems perfect for a sunny summer day.
This was perfectly pleasant while I was out walking in the sun but I didn't get the sense it will stick with me long.
After one listen I actually like this a lot more than I thought I would. We'll see if it sticks with me at all.
I'll always have a soft spot for Phoenix, but if you've enjoyed their past few albums, check out their first few: United (2000), Alphabetical (2004) and It's Never Been Like That (2006). They know how to write a stellar pop song ("Too Young", "Everything Is Everything", "Consolation Prizes", "If I Ever Feel Better") without letting the disco take over everything.
Finally got around to it. It's enjoyable but yeah I don't think it'll stay in my rotation for very long.
I've listened a few times now. It's a fun record and perfect for the summer, but there's just no hits on it. The songs are good, but there's just no 1901, Listomania, Long Distance Call, Too Young type stand outs.
ive never been much into these dudes but i gave the new one a whirl today whilst sitting outside at the pool. it was made just for that but i dont know how much lasting power it will have for me.
This is starting to grow on me a little more. Tuttifrutti and Fior Di Latte are the standouts for me.
