Everyone’s kinda strange in their own ways, and Phoebe chooses to make it a pronounced aspect of her social media presence. I love how some of my favourite musicians like her, Sadie Dupis, Michelle Zauner, and Steph Knipe heavily incorporate their sense of humor into their accounts. It helps me feel more connected when I listen to their songs, in addition to their tweets being fun
I think both of you took “strange” as something bad. I meant strange as unusual. She jokes about shoving a plant up her vagina that a venue gave her and called her first headline tour her “farewell” tour. Stuff like that
Sure, unexpected unusualness can be funny. Just don’t try to come into everything with a preconceived idea of what “strange” is. It’s not always a negative thing. You could have realized that by noticing my first comment started with the word “nice”, so obviously I’m glad she is getting somewhere and do not dislike her.
Julien Baker’s album was my top of 2017. Phoebe was in 2nd and I think it’s because I connected to Julien’s album more due to me listening to her a lot for the last few years. I already felt comfortable with her style and the emotion she brings.
I remember seeing her a year or two back when she played with Julien Baker in LA. Back then it was just her and her guitar and it was lovely. Would definitely love to see her again.
Hadn't heard of her prior to the Conor Oberst tour last year, but I loved her set. Hoping she makes EXC IV this year, as rumored.
